Admit to being a bit of a late-comer but we have been watching it as a family over the last few weeks.
Got to say, it’s been a brilliant watch - brought us together to chat about the issues in each episode.
Whilst I’m aware it’s taken alot of “dramatic license” and there are also plenty of inaccuracies, it’s a great way of looking into the history of this country - in a way that I’d probably otherwise fail to engage my kids.
We’re forever looking up who’s who, what happened, and the wider story.

I fancy watching myself. Before I appear on Mastermind with a specialist ‘Game of Thrones’ subject.
Or the band Sparklehorse, the films of Ken Loach, or the history of the Foundling Hospital.
I like to mix it up. Just don’t ask me anything about football..:)

Agreed, it's very well made indeed. I'm massively anti-royalist, but it did give me a new found respect for the Queen, and the way she has served the country for nearly 70 years, doing a job she never wanted or expected to have. The royals may be pampered in many aspects of their lives, but they're also extremely limited and under constant scrutiny in ways that we can never imagine. I wouldn't swap places with them for anything.

There's a job going at Hillsborough. You sound like an ideal candidate. :)

Exactly my thoughts. Wouldn’t swap my life for theirs. Also quite alarming the lack of love/ hard time given to Charles and Margaret in different ways. (Don’t get me wrong I know they both make their own beds, so to speak), but can’t help but wonder how damaged they were in the first place.

I’m always up for an impossible challenge. My failed music & art careers make a perfect CV. I’ll have them none league in 3 years tops. :)

Charles appears to have the social skills of a houseplant in the series and in real life. It's amazing that William and Harry seem to have turned out like relatively normal young men. I'm guessing that must have been their mum's influence.

I’ve seen every episode and it’s been superb television. I don’t care if they’ve added a touch of fiction to the well known established facts.

It’s British history, and we may not like all of it, but it’s part of our lives.

What, even about scoring great goals on Kirk Balk fields?

That’s me sorted. I’ve run out of beer & should use my Netflix subscription.
Unless there’s more stuff on telly with dinosaurs.

Don’t even go there. I get a bit embarrassed. Asking me to name the 7 Wombwell High players I beat & the goalie I lobbed for my 4th? Sorry, pass. Not that I ever did..:)

Agree, we have watched every episode and were waiting for the latest season in November - when it came out we watched them all in 4 evenings.

It really does bring history to life and is superbly made, as a lot of Netflix stuff is.

The one I felt most for was Princess Margaret. She really did live a sad life. Massively pampered of course, but lived life as the 'spare' and lived it in a straitjacket. She really got the a.rse end of the deal.

There was a film on a couple of weeks back, about the Princesses having a night out on VE Day. Massively made up, but a good watch. Can’t remember what it’s called, & not arsed to google.:)

We put out a scratch team. The first teamers were down with the dreaded lurgi. :) We also had to call on Casper as an emergency goalie signing.
