If you had the chance to go back in time and met Adolf Hitler when he was a 6 year old child could you kill him?
Their anonymity (now preserved) enables their release into the community. Convicted 13 year olds who are now grown up don't go stomping around a traditional quad for 15 minutes, blowing warmth into their hands, like you've seen on TV. These birds will fly. Wings clipped. Damaged. But not identifiable for what they were when fledglings.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-35977027 The elder girl sounds like she had a particularly horrific upbringing, and with an IQ between 60 and 70, I think publicly naming her would be extremely dangerous. Clearly there must be very little chance of her rejoining society, but I think we can't just throw her to the wolves.
Good question Jack, With the knowledge. Of what atrocities lie ahead. what if you don’t. I think my conscience would be tested to the limits. And yes . Only issue would be, would you be changing history for the better or would you be opening it up for another maniac to take his place. Thus achieving nothing. He didn’t act alone did he. Bit different to someone who did act alone. Eg Anders Breivik. You?
Absolutely not, he was an innocent child then and hadn't committed mass genocide , torture. I really don't get your analogy, if you're saying I knew what he would go onto do then yes I think I would
If your , (if you have a kid) child was murdered, sodimised, had paid put in their eyes, beaten and left on the railway line to be sliced in half by a train would you if you could go back and kill John venables and Robert Thompson to prevent the murder of your 5 year old daughter ?
Maybe a controversial view, but an incentive can be made for them. I understand the blanket no naming even though I wouldnt piss on them if they were on fire. Maybe they can have their anonymity, but on condition that they commit zero crime after their sentence is served. Even being caught with a spliff. If they do, release names... and then bang em back up. Even some of the most hardened criminals can turn a new leaf. Not all, but some. Of course it does nothing for the victim, I accept. Short of death penalty it's more cost to the taxpayer constantly keeping them anonymous. Give them a responsibility, or accept being publicly named. Maybe... but that is just off top of my head without any real serious thought
What if my kid went on to hypothetically kill someone? I'd be raising my child knowing I'd killed a baby.
That makes sense with what I heard the newsreader say, at least the elder girl. I can see why they are not naming her although she sounds as though she needs to be in a secure unit. I'm not sure why they're not naming the younger one (unless it's that it will lead to the older one's name getting out) but there may be more to it than is stated there. That article is very descriptive though, I felt like they may as well have told us their names after every other bit of information they could possibly say was listed. There's definitely more to this than 'they might get a bit sad and try to hurt themselves'.
I don't get the connection RH between what I asked at what your saying ?I just asked if your child was murdered in the most vile way and you could go back to kill the kid to prevent your kids death would you ?
You’ve travelled back in time. So you would know.. ? But think on. You’ve altered the future. Who knows what that would hold. Mind boggles.
