Purely because they might self harm if people know they are evil.

So what? Let them self harm all they want. Let them jump off a cliff if they want.

It's absolutely wrong that people can be convicted of the most evil crimes and get be granted anonymity and yet every single day a man (and occasionally women) will have their name published purely because they've been accused of a sex crime regardless of their innocence

I think it is the fact that presumably they were under 18 that led to this anonymity?

They should be coming out of the nick too old to have kids, what they did to that poor woman.

Don't care how young they are they KNOW they've done wrong!

I'm not disagreeing with that and I don't know the case but I'm guessing that might well be the reason.

Isn’t the ruling based on their age rather than their crime?

    13 is teenage.

    Were they 13?

I am not justifying it. I just don't know their age.

More then likely, it was same with the James Bulger killers . By sounds of it they are still bad people.

Reminiscent of the Jamie Bulgar case.

Robert Thompson and Jon Venables were both 10 at the time back in 1993.

They're trial took place in an adult court..

Should they have ever been released?

Should they have been re-homed and given new identities and allowed back in to society with total anonymity

For me a classic case of looking after the guilty to a ridiculous degree.
The sentence was too light to start with for me so at least they should be social pariahs for life.

No it's been based on the risk they may self harm. Thomson and Venables were much younger remember

13/14 is still a juvenile in terms of sentencing in courts though.

They more or less ( in a round about way) get away with it but the victims families get a life sentence, shocking.

Their lives will be affected. Won't be eye for an eye but they won't be able to forget all about it and have a "normal" life.

You are right though, the victims family will be going through the mill forever
I hate the fact that everyone knows the murderers names, the papers endlessly publish articles about it, and hardly any thought to the victim's family and friends.

I know literally nothing about this case other than what I heard on the radio about 2 seconds before arriving home. The newsreader said that it was because they had severe mental health problems at the time of commiting the murder.

IMO they should be in prison and lose their freedom, they can have 3 square meals a day,tv ,computer etc but they can't enjoy all the things we can like going to watch sport, enjoying the countryside, seaside the pub or a nice meal with family or friends amongst other things. Throw away the key ,if you can't do the time don't do the crime.
