Never liked fly by night clubs making the big time when they haven't got the natural ability to sustain it. People might say we were one of those. However, we could have stayed there with a bit more luck. I think we're a bigger club than Wigan and Bournemouth but they have the history.

Have I misread the Bournemouth statement. I think that Woodgate was appointed to the coaching staff after Graeme Jones left. I don't think that Woodgate has been appointed to the Head Coach/Manager role. They are rumoured to be looking at Paul Cook, but I would have thought that they would do better to reappoint Eddie Howe. Good for us. Pity their bad run of form didn't start at Oakwell.

Who isn't looking at Paul Cook :). He's one of those like Cotterill who goes unemployed for some time yet somehow attracts the attention of everyone looking to fill a managerial role and, eventually, lands one.

I would imagine the Woodgate situation will be temporary. Having joined the club when Graeme Jones went to Newcastle he's been handed the reins for now but you can't see him making a success of it, surely?

As I said above, I really hope they slide down the table now. Fair play to them for maintaining their top flight status for a few seasons but this success was bought for them. I think they've had their days in the sun now and will soon return to their rightful place.

Here’s a thread from their forum. Seems the OP is worried about the future and can’t be arsed to pay a tenner to watch the games on tv. Wonder if he voiced his concerns when they were buying their way into the prem?

Hope for his sake that their rich benefactor isn’t as quick to decide he’s had enough and stop contributing.

I hope they bounce back to the lower leagues where they’ve spent 80 years or so. They can hold hands with Wigan’s deluded ‘how far we’ve fallen’ brigade.
