Potentially. But always running the risk of someone not coming through for you. Now more than ever really.
I am opposite , it makes sound sense to me , Mowatt is our player & owes us nothing , if we were to get a fee for him it would only be a nominal amount ,however a replacement of his quality would cost us big bucks plus whilst ever he is here there is a chance of him resigning & once again we have a player here who is bought & paid for , it makes sound financial sense to me to keep him here .
Surprised you think a player who was on the verge of dropping down the league, but the club put faith in and made captain, doesn't owe us anything? At the end of that loan spell at Oxford it wasn't inconceivable to imagine him dropping to League Two. Not saying he should be indebted to Barnsley, but we've been as good for him as he's been good for us. We're not flush with cash. If we believe, which I do, that Styles is the natural long term replacement in the Mowatt role, then you bank the £1 million pound being rumoured and use it to sign a LWB. If you have to make that move in the Summer you're spending £1 million and you've lost £1 million.
No I do not think he owes us anything, he bought for a fee rumoured to be around £400 K & was treated shabbily by Hecky but he didn"t complain , came back to the club , worked hard & ended up as club captain , he then extended his stay & has continually led from the front , works his socks off every match & wears the shirt with pride , I for one ,despite rumours do not believe anyone will pay nothing like a million for him with him being out of contract shortly ,but fans seem to think that Styles will step into his shoes & do the same job , I hope they are right but then Styles wants replacing & that will cost a lot more than the fee we receive for Mowatt , so to sum up , Mowatt owes us nothing & costs us his wages , a replacement would cost a big fee & an agents fee & wages , if we can keep Mowatt we do not have to buy anyone or pay out for the add ons & we have a quality player we know we can trust .
Heard from up north and down south that £850k was the bid from Millwall. Rejected. They've baulked at the £1.25m needed to even entertain a discussion on our part. You're working on the assumption we can keep him. I'd say our chances diminish considerably once we get in to February and he hasn't signed a new contract.
Cardiff, just bought their Right Back and he played at Oakwell last week. Crewe are having a good season so far, can't say I'm familiar with Pickering but I wasn't familiar with Callum Brittain either and he's been brilliant.
My first thought was that the OP meant Mick Pickering. Bit long in the tooth like... https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url...ved=0CAIQjRxqFwoTCICc5cqBye4CFQAAAAAdAAAAABAD
