Point is though Helen, they are lazily using the James Bond franchise and 'heritage' and trading off as a vehicle to advance inclusivity of BAME in films rather than creating a new 'starting point' Like I said, a James Bond film without James Bond as the lead is NOT James Bond.
It will in no way be a 'James Bond' film in the same way that 'The Bourne Legacy' following on from the 3 original Jason Bourne films (IMO far better than the James Bond films as a complete set) failed without the presence of Matt Damon's titular main character.
Anyone who has not seen them btw I can highly recommend them. They're quite old now but theystands up well and are brilliant film adaptations of spy novels from a master craftsman in that genre (Robert Ludlam) . Ignore the later reboot with Matt Damon reprising the role of Jason Bourne as it is OK but a bit meh! and contributed nothing new.

I'm always getting called another name ( mostly other women) so it's nice to see it happens to others!

James Bond still is the lead isn't he? He starts the film retired, and when he comes back in someone has been assigned 007 in his absence, who just happens to be a black woman. I literally can't understand how anyone could have a problem with that.

My view on all this is that if encounter someone and I address them in all innocence using a label which they find offensive and get stroppy about it then as far as I am concerned it is a) their problem not mine and b) the remedy is I am not likely to encounter them again and even if I did I just ignore them.
Example (and going back 10 years or more). I was coming out of Alhambra centre main entrance and (unlike some) I always used to check behind to see if someone was following rather than just letting go of the door. On this particular instance I noticed a 'person' of the female gender a few yards behind me who had both hands occupied holding several bags. I therefore held the door open for her and innocently said " here you go love". She swept past me through the open door and loudly called me a "sexist pig". At first I thought she was joking. A bit embarrassing as a few people looked at me wondering what I must have said/done. I was lost for words so did not respond. Obviously she must have had issues based on some experience but from that day I decided that I, frankly, no longer give a toss if someone is offended by words-that is all they are- spoken with no ill intent. As I say if the recipient is offended , particularly when accompanied by well intentioned deeds. it is their problem not mine and they need to take a long hard look at why they are so easily offended. My experience is not unlike the other post in this thread where someone was offended by being referred to as a 'lady'.

Q: Why are women's feet generally smaller than a man's?
A: So they can stand closer to the sink & ironing board when doing the housework? ;)

Why doesn't that surprise me @Tekkytyke !? Mine would be to wonder why I had offended someone.

Same here, I used to do that, not just for women but blokes as well, I think its called manners, I was also made to stand up on the bus for women so they could have my seat, I was always taught treat women with respect,
I have now come to realise that you don't just treat women with respect but everybody regardless of sex, I wouldn't encourage my kids in this age we live in to give up their seats for woman ( elderly and infirm , yes) that is sexist and not fair on the women, stand up with everyone else, I think they would appreciate that attitude because it wouldn't signal them out for being female, ( see what I did their)

So you are saying that the main character is still James Bond (or at least 'shares the lead with a new character).

In that case I have no problem either. Where did you find the synopsis of the story as I thought the film shoot had not even started yet?

I confess to being guilty of doing something I criticise others for i.e. only reading headlines and not following up.

I do not have an issue with BAME leads. Netflix (BBC?) 'Black Earth Rising' is very powerful drama. Michaela Coel puts in an amazing performance albeit one that challenging for viewers. Given her characters background and experience that driven and 'damaged' personality is completely understandable and consistent with her life experience. Nevertheless IMO the portrayal is one of a person you would find hard to like and trust.

The answer in my example would be the person in question has issues. Yu seem to think it is acceptable to make everyone 'walk on eggshells' for fear of offending someone. THAT is a big problem with the current situation which you appear to accept as the new normal.

    The two synopsises I've seen:

'NO TIME TO DIE will continue on where SPECTRE left off, with James Bond having left active service to begin a new life with Dr. Swann (Léa Seydoux), but Bond is soon brought back into action when Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) comes calling to enlist his help in searching for a missing scientist. When it becomes apparent that the scientist was abducted, Bond must confront a danger the likes of which the world has never seen before in a villain armed with dangerous new technology. The film also stars Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Ana de Armas, Christoph Waltz, Ben Whishaw, Naomi Harris, Rory Kinnear, and Ralph Fiennes, with Cary Fukunaga directing from a script he co-wrote with Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.'

'No Time To Die’s synopsis reads: “Five years after the capture of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, James Bond has left active service. He is approached by Felix Leiter, his friend and a CIA officer, who enlists his help in the search for Valdo Obruchev, a missing scientist. When it becomes apparent that Obruchev was abducted, Bond must confront a danger the likes of which the world has never seen before.”'

In both only Bond's role is described which shows he is the main character.

On Wikipedia. The film has been complete for ages - it was due to be released last year but they keep kicking back the release due to Covid.

Believe me, as a woman " walking on eggshells " is a common occurrence.

Let's take another example. Say you're in a wheelchair, it is important to you to be as independent as possible. People constantly thinking you need help would be annoying, belittling, assumptive. A little bit of awkwardness for you would be nothing in comparison.
