There is a lot of hypocrisy about. Most recent example for me is all the talk of cultural misappropriation especially in casting for film and TV roles only to find out the new James Bond is to be a black woman. FFS!! nothing wrong with a female of any race creed or colour being the strong lead in a Spy film. But James Bond? Really?
I know the old stereotypical 'Alpha male' misogynistic, womanising Englishman as portrayed in most of the Bond films from the Ian Fleming books is no longer acceptable but using the name and heritage of James Bond to further the cause of diversity is a travesty and is itself totally inappropriate.

    Agreed.
As an aside, I once worked with a woman who came back from lunch one day absolutely furious - and I mean FURIOUS! - because a shop assistant had referred to her as "this lady" instead of "this woman" or "this customer". She objected to the word "lady" because she said it had negative connotations (lady of leisure, etc.). At the time, I thought she was over-reacting and being a little unfair on someone who, it seemed to me, was merely trying to be polite. Looking back I was probably in the wrong. I probably am today too, but we live and learn.

That’s not how anyone speaks though. Saying ‘this woman presenter’ is rude. I don’t think I’m that bothered that he specified her gender, just the rude way he went about it. He said it as an insult, not as an identifier.

What will her name be Jamie Bond, the lady will be obviously an anti fryer so as not to encourage obesity , so before the lady goes out spying and gets her old fellas tea on it will need to be healthy, so she will have a licence to grill:)

She’s not playing James Bond. She’s playing a spy who has been given Bond’s agent number. She’s the new 007. That’s like saying Woodrow is playing Winnall rather than he’s been given the number 9 shirt.

Edit: Actually, James Bond is still going to be in the film. So it’s like saying Adam Hammill was playing Josh Scowen when he was given the number 7 shirt and Scowen was moved to 6.

There is one annoying, shouty commentator who I have to mute. Who happens to be female, but I used to do the same to Jonathan Pierce, until his tamarzipan kicked in..:)
