As ice said before while things are hard for me at home I consider myself very fortunate to still have a job to go to and lockdowns have actually been good for my work and even my own financial situation. I can't imagine the struggles at home coupled with work/financial worries on top too. I really don't know what to say to people anymore beyond I understand. A colleague at work was telling me her daughter has 3 kids, is expected to work from home and her husband has to continue to go out to work. She phoned her mum in tears after the school phoned about the kids "progress" People are at breaking point out there they really are.
A spokesperson has denied the £500 payment will happen. So expect it to start Wednesday or Thursday I reckon.
You’re equating thinking restrictions need to be stronger with wanting them to be stronger. Nobody wants restrictions. But they’re necessary. Doing it half arsed like we’ve been doing the entire pandemic just makes everything worse.
I think that mankind has got the answer and that is nature but then it depends on what the question is. If the question is have mankind got the answer to eradicate the virus and stop some of those who are vulnerable right now from dying? Then no we haven't. If the answer is have mankind got the answer to long term survival and for making this virus become pretty much the same as other viruses which we don't really care about like influenza? Then yes. We are seeing very very few reinfections and we're seeing a really low death rate too. Logic dictates that it means the supply of vulnerable people for it to take the life of will get smaller and smaller and smaller and as it spreads through the healthy population then the amount of people to infect gets smaller and smaller. Essentially herd immunity. You'd never get 100% herd immunity but we haven't with anything that we just accept. You would however get a good acceptable level of it eventually. The issue is that in order to achieve it you have to accept that a large number of vulnerable people will die however there is an argument that as soon as the vulnerable groups are isolated it would be prudent to then aim for a natural herd immunity combined with the vaccination immunity of the vulnerable.
We are not self sufficient. We rely on imports every second of every day. It's pretty much impossible for us to lockdown completely and lock everyone's front door and parade the streets with police and military like some other countries have. I'm only allowed to leave my home to exercise, buy food or attend work where I have to have social distancing measures in place to pay for the oven to be turned on. I'm really not sure how much harder you want the lockdown to be
How come you're answering these questions on behalf of mankind? And anyway it's personkind these days.
Is everybody happy with homo-sapienkind ? Nobody left out there? In which case I shall henceforth adopt it. Bit of a gobfull though
It only leaves out the neanderthals who think having white skin makes them better but I don't think anyone really cares if they're missed out
