The difference between you and I is that I’ve lived with bringing up kids, and now grandkids. I also volunteered helping kids from all backgrounds for years I fully understand that some children have genuinely terrible lives, but they’re a tiny minority. But the real beauty of children is their resilience, as I learned (as a new parent) from a child psychologist ’they manage to grow up despite you’.
Not to make light of this but the Pandemic is only relevant because it affects more people. Children dealing with divorce, bereavement, serious illnesses, have happened forever, and affect kids more than the low level fallout of the pandemic.
Weird that’s how your mind works. Kids aren’t having to witness people completely cut off from their families dying a slow lingering death on. A daily basis. Before Christmas when my uncle was in his last hours alone the nursing staff facilitated iPad calls to try and help us say goodbye you could see how devastating it was for them. These are pretty hardened people but the level of what they are dealing with is beyond anything they’ve experienced and PTSD will undoubtedly be a big issue in the next few years.
Nobody has dismissed anything, that I’ve noticed. It’s being heavily discussed right now on telly. You’d be no good in a war mate, let alone this crisis.. Speak to kids who have lost parents to this thing, especially those of frontline NHS workers..
Never said anything about masks. Sorry that's how your daughter feels and I'm sure there are cases - generally the thousands of kids I'm working with seem to e coping well. Adults seem to cause more issues than the kids themselves
I'm not dismissing anything - I'm talking about my experience of working with thousands of kids. There will me some cases but kids actually seem to be more resilient than the adults.
Hmm, I wouldn't overplay children's resiiance. My Mrs has had years of working in a family support setting and also mental hospital, my daughter has been working on the legal side of family and children services and I summarize what causes the majority of problems for people who are either in prison and deemed mentally ill or are having their children referred or removed: 1. Drugs 2. Their upbringing
Personally none. My sister? 2 they're both having problems. My neighbour. One. He's having problems. They might not all be as lucky as yours maybe?
Here he is again, Mr Alright Jack. You really should think about becoming a Tory you know. You’ve got the requisite selfishness and total lack of empathy to do really well with them, you’d go far.
Who’s telling kids that? Fu c king idiots. If you can suggest a way to rid the world of idiots I’ll sign up.
It's absolutely disgusting the attitude shown and just how wide spread it is on here. My kids are fine with daddy in his secure job working throughout so nobody else can possibly be suffering. My kiddies were fine years ago, all they're being told is they can't play out they need to grow up. It's so widespread I'm actually shocked how many people on here are happy to see kids have their lives destroyed before they've began.
The news. The TV. The internet. The media. Kids pick up on things. If we've got people on here, adults, scared to leave their home in case they pass it on to someone who dies why do you think children won't react the same?
Is this one of SuperTykes hyperbole lines again (if s point can be stretched; he’s your man). I watch a regular amount of telly, read newspapers etc. And ABSOLUTELY FUC KING NOWHERE have I seen that kids are being warned they can kill people. So if your sisters kids are being told that: my guess is you’re the fuc king idiot responsible.
From the BMJ. Synopsis is that MH/suicides etc are a complicated picture and should be interpreted as such. https://www.bmj.com/content/371/bmj.m4352
