BBC News - Covid: Couple fined for seven-mile trip to care home https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-55634751 Imagine wanting to see your 94 year old mum through a window? Will these Covidiots ever learn? Lucky the police were on hand to issue some swift justice.
We'll see more of these stories until people are scared to leave their homes. Which is what the government want.
The Welsh regulations (the actual legislation) look even more of a mess than the English ones, so I can't tell whether these people have actually contravened the statutes. But any breach is subject to the officers' discretion. Has common sense flown out through the window?
Has our world-beating Prime Minister been issued with a similar fine, from when he was seen cycling seven miles away from his residence?
Not too sure about the welsh regulations but in England visits to care homes are specifically allowed as long as agreed in advance with the care home and social distancing is followed using for example a window, or a screen. Its in the official guidance!
Regulations in Wales and England are not the same - the visit is legal in England as is Johnsons cycle ride I have no idea if they are legal in Wales
Police discretion according to patel yesterday, one rule for one and one rule for others continues...
The care home where my missus is should soon be doing in room visits so long has you have a negative test (done by them). They should have started last month but a staff member was positive so they then have to go 28 days Covid free before they can start. Another staff member has tested positive in the last few days and they are now waiting to here from PHE on what procedures to do next as the protocols have changed again and ,as I get the feeling, the home doesn't want to take decisions themselves as the guidelines are so fuzzy they would be leaving themselves open to blame if they have problems. In the meantime we have to communicate through a 4 inch gap in a window
Too right! For goodness sake she wa off to see her 94 year old Mother with permission from the care home, like she said her Mam could be next next month. Do as i SAY not do as I do, bloody tories!!!!
92 year olds are being arrested for peacefully protesting. Pensioners are being arrested for the crime of wanting to wave through a window to their elderly parent, who will shortly die. Young women are being fined for having a coffee on a walk because it’s ‘a picnic’. The young and well are being imprisoned in their homes save for food shopping and exercise. Children are being deprived of an education. And you’re asking if common sense has gone out of the window? Are you alright?
Still wrong though. There you go, now do you and other Tory apologists on here want to start criticising the Tories on their decisions Ovid - related or other. You’ll be here a long long time
I remember posting back when Corbyns brother was hit with a 10k fine that the system was introduced without a vote and the fines can be issued with a huge interpretation of the law by people who aren’t even police officers. And here we are, so many people desperate to give up their freedoms for a little false security is never going to end well. Trying to unwind all this stateism and snoop culture if we ever get let out of perpetual lockdown is going to be almost impossible.
