Thanks for the reminder mate. I'm sure they have learnt the lessons from previous transfer windows, so we have to take him at his word here then, don't we. Unless we get a really ridiculous amount for one of our players and a transfer fee cannot be turned down of course
Mowatt’s central midfield partner Matty James’ loan from Leicester City is due to expire in January. Murphy said: “Matty has played extremely well and he’s a huge boon on and off the field. “He’s a great player who has played at a higher level and there is a confidence and ability to galvanise the group that oozes out of his pores. When it’s cold, dark and muddy, he pushes the guys when they need to be pushed. I have spoken to Matty and his representatives and he’s enjoying his time here. It’s basically going to be up to Leicester and what they want to do with him.”
I'm of the opinion that 'undisclosed' effects fans opinions of player sales. I would ideally like every transfer deal to be fully transparent. I'm sure over the years (not just us) fans would be equally happy or mad on various transfers. For instance if we sell Woodrow and its undisclosed and just speculation we'd be miffed. But if it was £3 million rising to £5 mill with a 20% sell on clause (it's an example) vast majority would either be happy or could make an informed opinion.
I feel for Dane. At times it appears like he says things with the best will in the world but then word from his seniors (the owners) mean his own wishes and opinions are overruled. It looks as though the Matty James thing might be one instance of this as it just doesn't make sense to anyone working on the football side of things to make the decision to let him leave. He probably shouldn't overpromise us though as it always does look a bit suspicious when club employees tell us there won't be January sales!
Reading what our coach said, it could well have been his decision not to extend Matty’s loan. Can’t blame Dane for that
Meanwhile, Barnsley captain Alex Mowatt’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season. The 25-year-old midfielder told the Chronicle last month he hoped a new deal could be agreed ‘within a few weeks’.
How was Dane to know in November Valerie would run the rule over the squad and maybe not fancy certain players? All Dane has been guilty of is using a blanket statement. He hasn't tried to con anyone.
That's interesting, thanks for confirming. Not what I'd have done but Val can do what he likes if he keeps up how we've doing.
Well, Dane did say we'd be looking to bring in another striker and defender and he was true to his word. In the first week of the transfer window, too.
