James going it's not good at all. Really hoping the club don't let us down when we are on the brink of top 6
If we lose Mowatt as well as James, we’ll finish in the bottom 6 unless we bring someone in with equivalent experience / quality. Whereabouts in that bottom 6, I wouldn’t want to speculate
Tend to agree but if we sign a LWB as good as Brittain then that does allow a first choice pairing of Styles and Kane. They’d need to be given time and a run of games, but they’re capable in my opinion. Biggest annoyance would be the negative impact on the squad overall. Feels like it’s the first time in the Championship where we’ve had midfield options on the bench and it definitely shows.
No its about we stated we wanted to keep him from the ceo and manager but won't pay wages so he goes on loan to Coventry
Let's just enjoy the ride people, we're set up nicely. We knew the situation going into the window, give big Val a chance to bring his own targets. Really like the signing today, could be another nugget.
Let's not slate Coventry too much, yes they may not have a pot to piss in, but they have Gustavo Hamer who they picked up for around a million and many expect to go to the Prem for 10x that at the end of the season. Here's a theory, James and Hamer have the same agent. Leics first dibs on Hamer for a cheap loan of James?
The only justification for allowing James to slip through the net is that the manager has decided he has better options already at the club and he believes they are ready to replace James or he has a better option coming in this month preferably this week. If it's purely his wages that are the issue and the manager wasn't involved in the decision it shows a lack of ambition at board level. I suppose we'll know at the end of the window which it is.
You could be right, but there could also be personal reasons from James’ point of view. I would guess he lives in or around the Leicester area, he only came here for an initial three months, hotels are shut. Where is he staying? Is he commuting up to Barnsley? Does he prefer the shorter commute to Coventry? Personally, I think he has a better chance of putting himself in the shop window by staying with us, but maybe, just maybe his Y-reg Austin Ambassador can’t hack that daily trip up and down the M1.
I'm just hoping we will still strengthen.. I'm scared it will be the same Jan window the club sold heckys best players... I want to trust the board but jittery at the moment
Think we would get overrun in midfield with that pairing. Neither are particularly combative. Styles probably more so of the two.
What do you mean by combative though? Hasn’t Styles won the most tackles or most interceptions in the league? I think the challenge for Styles is to be less combative personally. Which he’ll get through experience in terms of knowing when to be a ‘headless chicken’ vs. When to hold position and shape.
In the air being one of them. Granted I agree Styles is good on the deck but I don’t think either of them the best in the air Mowatt and James have both been very effective on that front this season when teams kick out to beat the press.
Styles has never been an headless chicken.. He's so consistent... Styles will definitely play in the Premier
I put it in quotation marks. When he’s played in midfield and more central he has been guilty of being too involved in trying to break up everything, which as a result means it looks a bit frantic and almost headless chicken like. That’s an experience thing. It wasn’t a criticism of his abilities and more about his experience in terms of when to go, when not to go, when to stick to shape, etc.
I’ll give you James but I think Mowatt and Styles are similar on that attribute. Definitely don’t class Mowatt as good in the air, just determined. But Styles has that in abundance as well.
