What the hell do you expect, honestly? You took advantage of free movement and sit quite happily within the EU while crowing about this disaster of a Brexit that the rest of us, now trapped here, have to live with. I'd forcibly repatriate the lot of you.
Good for you. Meanwhile the rest of us are stuck with the new reality. Although I do have an Irish passport
I don’t know you and I’m presuming from this post that you live in the EU. If that’s not correct then I apologise. It seems to me that expats who feel that they can dictate and support how people who live in this country live are crossing the line. You live with benefits denied to us and under a government that is not ours. Farage told us how to vote and what we should do and f***** off to America in support if his fascist mate. It’s time you took a long look at yourself. Yes if you live and work in Europe and insist that the rest of us are out of it and don’t benefit from it you are a hypocrite. Just noticed that you describe yourself as “retired” if that’s true I can only assume that you’ve chosen Italy out of preference.
if you plan to retire. May I ask where in Europe you planned to retire to?. You do realise that the end of FoM does not prevent you from retiring abroad. Or are you just making it up? Even when FoM was in force it did not guarantee the right to take up permanent residency after 5 years. Certain individual country requirements had to be met to obtain residency status. That still applies and to my knowledge, for retirees nothing much has changed. e.g. health cover over here is not prohibitive Contributions into the state health system per annum are less than NI in UK for example. You have to prove you are self sufficient as a household. All these things I would have thought you would know if you were seriously planning to retire abroad.
aAs usual I can list the same old faces that come on and make personal attacks on me rather than comment on the subject matter of the OP and make worthwhile contributions to the thread. Typically sad behaviour from the usual leftie clique. Good night.
This point is incredibly effective @Tekkytyke repellent. I've asked the question a few times and he's never addressed it. I wonder why...
No, you are correct the FoM does not restrict me retiring abroad, but it limits my ability to travel and if I cannot gain residency then it also limits my travel to any place that I choose to buy, whereas as before this was not the case, or was not policed. The annual earnings to be self sufficient have also increased over the first 5 years from previous years. You state that these are the things I should know, but given that Brexit was such a crock of $hit and there are still uncertainties about what the requirements are for residency going forward, I would say that I am aware of what was required, but I do not know what the future holds, and I would be stupid to know or claim to know.
Man causes fuss, refuses to answer questions, is quite disparaging towards other posters and then declares everyone beneath him. Pigeon chess.
I don't understand the point of this thread really. If the EU is making a balls up of the vaccinations then they are making a balls up. So what? That's an issue for them. If the UK Government make a balls up they should be called out. If the UK Government end up being very efficient then they should be praised. I live in the UK so am concerned about my Government's response. I'll reserve judgement for a few weeks. Bottom line...the Government deserves stick if it's incompetent. If it's not incompetent then that's great. So what's the real point of the thread?
The only sniff of anything remotely underhand is Germany getting more doses than other countries in the first wave of vaccine. Nobody's perfect and that includes the EU.
Isn't that simply because as well as purchasing under the EU deal like everyone else Germany also used their brains and made a seperate private order?
You start a thread deliberately trying to antagonise "lefties", then flounce off when said "lefties" come in and call out the ******** spouted. Typical "righty", and dare I say snowflake behaviour if you ask me.
Its simple Tekkytyke is having a go at rejoiners pointing out something we already know - the EU isn't perfect. If we were in the EU and our vaccine distrubution was screwed up by them then I'd be critical. I might also still criticise the government if they hadnt made any contingency plans. For some reason though the likes of Tekky seem to think the Tories are doing a great job . Im happy to call out failings (or successes) wherever they are and don't have this blinkered partisan approach. Unfortunately it seems most Tory Brexiters especially those that dont have to live under them, dont have such balance I could mention that our great deals for the vaccine cost significantly more than that sourced using the purchasing power of the EU - of course if paying more gets us priority delivery thats fair enough
