Struber kept us up, in circumstances where it would have been very hard to believe that anyone else could have been guaranteed to do the same. If he'd been hanging around in Barnsley town centre drinking with the lads he'd have been a bigger hero then Stendel. Cos at the end of the day he pulled off a more difficult task.
Struber persevered with tip tap ******** and got out of jail because Callum Styles is fcking brilliant and Clarke Oduor popped up where he shouldn't have been.
Until the start of this season and we started making the same mistakes again? Btw, I don’t want you to think I’m against Struber. I’ll be forever grateful for last season. I just feel playing in the wrong areas cost us way too many points early on. We aren’t making those same mistakes as often under Val.
I think we need to mix it up a bit more under big Val. No question that when we get the ball down and play a bit then we look a decent side but too often we're punting the ball nowhere. Can't complain much though because we're getting results. I'm sure Val is aware of areas that need improvement.
Struber did an excellent job & Val’s doing an excellent job. We didn’t start this season well but there were constant rumours about Struber going & both Mowatt & Woodrow potentially going & we did some of our business late. It’s extremely harsh to ignore what Struber did last season & focus on a few games at the start of this season.
Struber was too busy living in fantasy land. Either too much time on fifa or too busy watching psg expecting likes of Jacob brown or freiser to play the mbappe role. I think our current manager knows some players are pushing above the weight till they reach potential so he's just actually just going for it instead of using the old barcelona style football. Be exciting to see what he adds in January with limited resources
I think Struber's target was 46 goalless draws and hope that 46 points would be sufficient to stay up.
I'd say it's neither. Struber did an excellent job keeping us up against all odds. It's hard to deny that. You could also argue that his style of football was more pleasing on the eye than the football under Ismael. Ismael's reluctance to change formation at all is also a worry. However, results this season are outstanding, so it's hard to criticise him at present. In my opinion both managers have had a relatively small sample of games to make a proper judgement on. But both appear to be excellent appointments by the board.
Val has just simplified things and cut out the chances of losing the ball in bad areas by playing forward quickly and so far it’s working.
Struber did an incredible job of keeping us up last season. We were doomed. This season though we lost all momentum under him and looked toothless. Val is currently doing an incredible job and hopefully we can keep the momentum going as long as possible.
Look no offence ST, maybe it’s just your general outlook on life, or maybe the stuff you put on here is different to your general outlook. It’s just with nearly every post you seem to look on the downside of life or take the negative view of nearly everything. If that’s not the way you are fair enough but that’s how you come across to me
The post I made at the start of this thread literally said I can't decide if Ismael is an amazingly brilliant manager or not. That's a bit of a clue that I'm pretty happy with us at the moment.
he was also sensibly dressed for the winter conditions with his hat. I noticed Val went hat less tonight!
