Feeling pretty positive about both him and Kitching - it would be great if we could get them in within the first few days of the transfer window. Still think we could do with another striker and a LWB, but that's arguably less urgent so we can sit back, relax, and go back to worrying about who'll be sold!
I’d like another attacking left back,I’ve mentioned Harry Pickering and Joel Randall on here in the past as I think it would free up Styles to play further forward and possibly in our front 3
Reece James at Doncaster has been playing well this season, sometimes at LWB. Only found out this week, he is Matty Js brother.
Doesn’t have the greatest goal record and is a bit older than what we usually go for but I’ll trust the system. If he works hard and is a handful that allows others to score then that’ll do for me.
It's a few years ago now, but I saw quite a bit of him at Shrewsbury. He's strong, quick and good in the air. Exactly what we've been missing up top. He's full of energy and would work well in our high press system. He might not get double figures in terms of goals, but I reckon he'll help Woodrow and Chaplin get into double figures.
Yeah that’s what I’m fully expecting. It’s clear we have certain aspects and qualities what we look for in a player. It might be asking a bit much for him to have the same impact as the last player we signed that most recently played for MK Dons but hopefully he’ll come in and be a handful.
Somewhere was reporting a fee of around £300k, as he would be out of contract this summer and that would represent good value. He will definitely fit into our system of play and is a bit like Victor Adeboyejo in terms of attributes and game style. He will certainly add to the 'physicality' of the strikers and team in general and is an established target-man style of striker. The only downside for me is his scoring record, which is why I would be looking to bring in a further striker who is more of a threat goal-wise. There may be such players on the continent, but one worth a look at home might be Brandon Hanlan at Bristol Rovers. Good to see Jack Aitchison back on a sub with a goal yesterday too. Alongside Woodrow, Chaplin, Adeboyejo, Frieser, Schidt, Miller, we need a player who will get us twenty goals a season to be play-off standard. Jack Marriott looks to be on his way out of Derby, but I wouldn't pay over the odds for him nowadays.
After our leading scorer, Cauley, the next three on the list are a defender and two midfielders. The next striker on the list, Big Vic, comes in at fifth. I'm not denying that we need players all over the pitch to contribute, but it is a pretty dismal showing from our forward line. Don't get me wrong, we are doing very well this season, as tenth position shows, but just think what we'd be like with a prolific front line.
Our 2 attacking wide players are an area that needs improvement,I’d like to see Styles played further forward Miller,Schmidt,Chaplin and Thomas need loaning out/selling on,only big Victor has shown any improvement/promise.
Looked at his stats hardly prolific but if he can be a target and hold the ball up to feed Cauley might be worth a stab.
You would have expected chaplin and freezer to have scored alot more than victor as vic mostly gets used as a sub from the bench and freezer and chaplin are starting week in week out. Cauley has scored 3 from.open play so I think he will be a bit disappointed with that.
I have a good feeling about this lad, 6 2", strong dynamic, puts himself about, his hold up play looks good, i think Vic has improved a lot from last season, but still doesn,t put himself about enough for his build, i think cauley, Morris and chaplin could cause real problems, i know chaplin hasn,t really been firing this season but i see him as being better than Frieser, the lad always puts a shift in but mostly only nuisance value for me...
his stats are seriously underwhelming. He’s also 25, I wonder what we (The magic spreadsheet) see that no one else seems to have.
Never scored more than 8 in a season, but sometimes a player just needs to find a system that suits them to shine and hit a hot streak.
Looking at his stats and the levels he's played at it would be an absolute, stone cold no from me. Already 25. Never been a decent goalscorer anywhere, I don't see how he's going to start scoring goals in the Championship.
