Was it 75% or 90%? Or have you just arbitrarily attached that figure to it?

It's probably about right. 26% of the population admit to racial prejudice, and that's just the ones who admit to it - https://natcen.ac.uk/news-media/pre...covers-extent-of-racial-prejudice-in-britain/

Your view based on people you know is likely to be massively skewed - as a non-racist you're obviously more likely to associate with other non-racists. A sample based on knocking doors is going to be more representative.

Agree in your overall sentiment as my own proposed data set was there to be challenged and put together pretty quickly.

Not sure about the door knocking though as it’s just one town and one view of what is classed as racist reasons in terms of voter intention.

Your 26%, and then even allowing a 20% swing for those who won’t admit it, is a bit different to 75% though?

Ah, I thought it was saying 75% of tory voters. I might have misread that. But the point was that anything that extrapolated to 14m racists probably isn't far off.

After a couple of years living in Papua New Guinea, a country of 1000 tribes and 800 languages with people a generation or two from how we evolved, I am inclined to think that tribalism/ racism runs deep in all our genes. In a more natural state we survive better if we support other members of our tribe and to hell with the rest. There is much to admire about how the PNGeans support their kin. But racism against each other and outsiders is always close to the surface.
In the modern world however, we can only survive if all humans work together. And even then the odds are stacked against us right now.
Scientifically racism is BS. As a young species there is little genetic difference between any of us, it is all cultural fluff.
So while I can understand why many folks are racists, it is repugnant, based on ignorance, and mostly sad that people are missing out on the richness of befriending people different from themselves.

Racism has been present in Barnsley for decades. During that time, Barnsley has been the hottest of labour hotbeds.

Not all racists in Barnsley have historically voted Tory.

It depended on the day and area. So round old town probably about 90% you know typical comments like “I’m voting Boris so there’s less pakis” to probably about 70%in areas like Dodworth and and Silkstone where the racism was slightly less overt. I am speaking of those who said they were voting tory.

I was indeed speaking specifically about those who gave reasons for voting tory. The reason being hatred of anyone not born in tarn ( usually)

    I live in Old Town.

You definitely didn’t knock on my door.

And, nothing of what you say can ever be anything other than anecdotal.

I walked around Mapplewell recently, and heard 79% of conversations to be racist.

    Do you believe me?

Yep. The classic passive aggressive move.

Ps. Can you pull some of the posts of mine that support your initial accusation? Cheers!
