Ok, there was the odd muddy patch on a pair of shorts but look at the front view of shirts and shorts - maybe the rain washed them off? That was a very poor performance though against a team who climbed to third. Third??? They were no better than us and should not have been allowed to stage a match at this level on such a pitch. A sloppy opener because of our usual lethargy from the kick off followed by an unlucky own goal. A 0-0 would have been the right result. For once our subs failed to deliver the required upgrade in performance. Miller, Thomas - what were they doing on the pitch - totally ineffective. Adeboyejo, Kane, Palmer - got involved a bit but generally ineffective as above. I suppose we were due another duff performance after so many good ones. It would be great to bounce back and beat Huddersfield next week, or is the country heading for total shutdown in the next few days? I wouldn't be surprised if that happened.
Not quite sure what you expect? Players to slide head first down the pitch? How would the front of shirts and shorts get dirty enough to be visible from a camera 100m away?
You didn't see anyone walking off at the end then? You know, the usual thing - shaking hands etc etc. I don't know what pictures you had on your screen but mine showed CLOSEUPS of most of our team in almost pristine kit. On a crappy weather day, and that pitch, they should have looked a bit muddier than that. That's not to say that if you are filthy you've had a decent game, or got stuck in. I just think it was odd just how clean they were. That's all.
If I'd been playing on a pitch that was set to be dug up at full-time, I'd have been sliding all over it, just for the hell of it.
We're just absolutely gash against certain teams and for some reason 2 of them are the only league clubs we regularly play from Wales. Never mind.
Today was both a free hit and a reality check. We are sone way off the top 8 clubs. We can compete against anyone in the bottom half. We lost because Swansea in sone areas just had more quality than us.
The mud had actually been rolled so it was hard, causing the ball to bounce more than normal and consequently most of the time it was head tennis. A very poor spectacle on a dreadful pitch.
Think the fatigue caught up with us today, given our energetic style of play, it had to come tbh. Let’s not feel the sky is falling in on the basis of today
Are you bemoaning a lack of effort on the part of our team, and using the cleanliness of our kit as exhibit A?
Oh absolutely, if someone had told me you'll lose to Swansea and Cardiff but beat those sister touchers in their own sty I'd have ripped their hand off.
I'm glad that our players had such consideration for our kit people. It can't be any fun having to sort that out week after week. Anyway, Big Val: 13:8:5. I'll take that all day long. Long may it continue.
Miller and Thomas replaced the ineffective players that were on before them. Maybe that's where we need to focus to improve ?
