Mebbe if we do achieve mid table mediocrity this season as part of our continuing development, that might tempt you to change your moniker? Also worthwhile noting that Mowatt and Woodrow were both, apparently, definitely on their way out if here in August ......
"Cautiously Optimistic Pontyender" is a bit of a gobful, 55. We've done far better than I thought we would at this point in the season. I also believe that without Covid there would have been another fire sale at the end of last season. Thankfully there wasn't and we stayed up as well.
If we can consolidate a top half finish this season I believe we will have a good chance the following season for a top ten finish, maybe even playoffs. I also think the lack of fans this season has worked for us, no pressure on the players from the crowd and this will work in our favour going forward: another season of Championship football and experience can only be a positive.
To develop we must at some point not sell our assets and replace with players for the future instead of players for the now!
Reason were in the Championship is because Wigan overspent. Championship was always going to combust, Covids made it happen earlier, long may it continue.
£20 we'll not be in a relegation scrap, funds to the hospice. We'll have to negotiate what we call a scrap.
No they're chances, chucking everything to reach the promised land. Hope they're all burger kings in 12 months.
Agree to an extent Helen - they've got the parachute payments, but..... Bournemouth sold Ake for £40 Million, Wilson for £20+ Million, Ramsdale for £18+ Million and Arter for £5 Million. Watford sold Doucoure for £20 Million, Estupan for £15 Million, Suarez for £6 Million, Foulqier for £2 Million Norwich sold Godfrey for £25 Million and Lewis for £15 Million That's some talent they sold, and Bournemouth didn't get anyone in either
We're already top of the table in terms of the teams we are realistically competing against. Bearing in mind the limits of our budget we are competitive in this league and I couldn't be happier. We need to get Matty James to the end of the season though. He will be a big loss in January.
Now six points off play off spot. Target man and some defensive cover in January and you can see where we can make those points up, especially as we had a bad start. Strip out the top three teams and you have the most open championship in ages.
I don't understand, do you think we will be in a relegation scrap? I must have some way out opinions, this is the 4th time in a week that I've offered an opinion and somebody has called me out for a bet on it. Other 3 were eleswhere.
Indeed that's what I meant. I think we won't threaten the play offs and we'll keep our noses out of a relegation scrap.
Apologies, I've read it again, it must have been the Hillsborough cocktail (1 part bottle of wine, 2 parts Lagunitas IPA and a dash of Rennie).
