It’ll have to be the final. And it’s not Barnsley. England don’t need me to jinx em. They can do that all by themselves.
On target for 20 league goals for the season which will be the first time at this level for over 50 years. Something to brag about there.
I think that Cauley is a class player. Very good first touch. Perceptive in passing. Natural goalscorer, but also contributes assists as well. When he has a couple of others alongside him with the same, or similar attributes, that should free him even more. I am delighted in where we are in the league, given that we still have an obvious weakness up front at the moment, other than Cauley. Two more Cauleys and we would be looking at the play-offs.
In what way please explain. Do you not think it will be an achievement if he can get 20 league goals at championship level which would be the first since the early 60s? What’s daft is idiots picking fault with the best forward we have had in years
I cannot for the life of me understand why he’s taking stick. His goal record for us is incredible, both in league 1 and the championship. I would love for him to stay with us for a considerable period of time so we can see how high he can get on our record top scorers list. I suspect there will be interest rising in him though.
I didn’t pick faults . I was stating the stats are nonsense. Get it out of your head I’m slagging him off, far from it. 20 goals is a great return, but he can’t rely on 15 penalties coming our way. If he scores another 12 from open play then I would look on the STATS favourably.
Not at all. No one says about Lineker oh disregard 10 England goals because they were penalties. Most forwards take penalties. If you are a forward that doesn’t wanna take penalties then your not a forward. How many goals do you want to subtract from Ernie Hine because he took penalties?
I understand stats. I take it you don’t think Ernie Hine is our record scorer because he took penalties? And Redfearn got what 20 goals less because he took penalties. Maybe think before you type.
I've only seen three strikers score 20 league goals in a season during the fifty odd years watching Barnsley. Mick Butler (1973/74), Brian Joicey (1976/77) and Sam Winnall (2015/16). Mick & Brian did it in the fourth tier, Sam in the third. I've never seen a striker do it for us in the second tier and would love Cauley to do so this campaign. Scoring penalties has never had a negative aspect for me and I find it astonishing some do.
I give up. It’s not rocket science. 71.4% penalties how’s that for a stat. Maybe you should understand stats wise guy. Did Redfearn and Hine have the same. You do the maths.
Well Ok then. If Jack Walton came up and took the penalties then you'd think that if he was the top scorer then he was our best striker?
Really? Good grief. I'm not wasting my time on such a puerile, asinine debate. Sorry, but I thought you were better than that.
If he finished the leagues top scorer then of course. Norwich game today. Ball went in from a deflection off Pukki. Will the record books reflect that? Of course not it’ll just be goal Pukki.
so over the 42 goals he has scored 75% are penalties? I actually analyse stats for a job so this is fun. So I’m presuming you have say Davis Currie on 10 goals less than the 48 he scored. As a percentage of goals scored to penalties converted he hits the mean. No more or less percentage wise than say Currie or Payton.
