I'm not even sure what the point is. The selfie camera is pointing right at your face. Normally when I nick my shopping I don't hold them up in front of my face for a camera
It always makes me feel like a criminal. So much so, that I usually put back whatever I'm about to steal.
I think the point was to make people laugh. It worked for me. You can dislike those cameras, which I do, and enjoy a witty response.
Wouldn't it be classed as an intrusion into privacy, in the same way teachers can't take photos of naughty kids at school?
I do not see any problem with it , just smile at the camera , pull a face , sing a song, but the sad fact is that there are thieves everywhere who will try to work some kind of scam at the checkout & that is probably why they are in operation & if you have nothing to hide , why the fear ? . Incidentally , if cctv offends you then you would never leave the house , I am not sure of the figures but I believe that you are on camera umpteen times a day . I myself use cameras at my property & in the car so I would not want to be a hypocrite & grumble when someone else does .
The difference is that usually I know I'm on camera but I don't KNOW I'm being watched live at that exact moment if that makes sense. I know they're recording me and can watch back and I know that sometimes they will be watching live but they also may not be. To know 100% exactly the what image is being recorded is extremely unsettling and to force me to watch the recording as it happens makes it much worse.
They came in really handy when the machine dropped me short on change one day, I told them what went in and what came out, they looked at the camera and it proved I was telling the truth.
Is that a different camera though? The camera I'm talking about is mounted above the screen and points straight at your face. It can't see the items you're scanning or the slot for money or anything, it can't even see your hands, just a close up of your fac
Exactly, that's what I'm saying, there's cameras everywhere you go. Not just the supermarket, but everywhere. Now, I know you're joking, because there isn't a camera on me lol Now, I'm not wearing a top, but if you could tell exactly what I'm wearing I'd be impressed
I'm the opposite I avoid checkouts when possible. Not a fan of the self checkouts but I do really like the "Scan and go" options.
