Inconsistent mask wearing at matches yesterday

I noticed watching both MOTD and Quest EFL that some were wearing them in their seats and plenty weren’t. I’d certainly prefer to be in the NOT wearing one camp if I were there but I thought it was a requirement that you wore one?

Maybe the stewards deliberately ignored it or were told not to challenge anybody? Just thought it was odd that’s all. I also think that it’s grossly unfair that some clubs are allowed to admit fans and others are not. It should be all or nothing.

 

Nope. No requirement to wear one in your seat. Barnsley have said that our rule is masks from entry to the turnstile till you get to your designated seat or are eating and drinking

 

They said on sky last night different rules for wearing masks in epl and football league

 

Finally a bit of common sense in all this nonsense then.

The only part of that rule that seems a bit bonkers to me is the no mask while eating or drinking because that suggests the refreshment stands are going to be open

 

Correct. You can drink as much ale as you want inside the ground. Until your bloodstream becomes pure Worthington's. You dont even have to buy a substantial meal.

You want a pint pre match and you have to buy a meal....

 

I’ve been in Spain for the last five weeks and the inconsistency here is just crazy. For example you are “allowed” to sit at outside tables overlooking the sea with no mask and are “allowed” to sit on the beach, maybe twenty yards away, with no mask.

However, walking in between those two areas you are supposed to wear a mask. Obviously the floating viral spores are only “allowed” to travel above that walkway.

Cynical? Me? Damn right I am

 

That applies when flying of course where you could quite legitimately, in a short haul flight for example, eat and drink your way from departure to arrival and there would be no requirement to wear a mask on board at all.

 

I thought it was clear that you wear the mask anywhere apart from when at your designated seat. I suppose some just felt safer watching the game in them but I don't think it's mandatory as you're outside. Does a scarf count as a face covering or is it strictly a mask? So if you turn up with all but your eyes covered with a warm scarf will you be told to prove you've a every day face covering on.

 

If your nose & mouth is covered up I think you are observing the law. There is no rule as far as I'm aware about the type of fabric.

 

I’m probably in a minority but I’d rather people wore masks during the match too depending on how far apart people are seated. The people behind me cough and sneeze a lot so I’m just imagining that for 90 minutes (I know it’s not usual seats). If there’s 2000 fans in, will they be using the whole stadium for maximum distancing or sitting people at 2m almost exactly to fulfil the rules but try and still have some attempt at atmosphere.

 

Some with it covering their nose and mouth, some just their mouth (mostly Italian residents), some with it over on eye like a pirate, some with it over their head like a hat, some wearing it like a pair of pants.
