Seems a bit like Brexit to me does this. We have known for a long time that the transition period comes to an end at the end of the year and according to Boris and Co the appropriate advice as been given to those importing/exporting etc. Those importing/exporting are saying different. Sound familiar?.
In my wife’s case she was doing telephone appointments, some video. She was also helping to organise care homes and palliative care within them. She also did face to face appointments still some on Covid (red) sites, without adequate ppe and some on no Covid (green) sites without adequate ppe, but that’s a different issue.
Our Surgery was still working, I know they operated a via email and telephone service, I’ve not heard if they did any face to face or not but would imagine they would have if the first two options didn’t work.
I would also add on a general note IMO, the current process of having to fill a form out online and either the doctor replying by email later or ringing is much better than the old system. Historically if I wanted to see a Dr, I would either have to book 3 weeks ahead or take a day of work, ring first thing and hope to get an appointment on the day(first come first serve). I appreciate this won’t work for everyone but for general non urgent enquiries I think it’s much better use of their time and frees them up to see more urgent cases.
They still had to prescribe medicine, see urgent patients, telephone consultations etc. The world didn't stop turning due to lockdown you know.
I didn't say it did. I asked a question and got a good reply from chef tyke who I asked the question to... and then a condescending one from you so thanks for that.
How many have actually got to see a doctor. The doctors and practice nurses. Cannot see as many patients due to sterilisation of the rooms required after every patient has attended. It will not be like that for the vaccinations. Into the practice or wherever the inoculations take place. Socially distancing and other precautions and back out. Some practices are small in comparison to others. I can generally get an appointment if needed. But I know of others struggling to even get a phone chat. As for practices not being aware of vaccine promotion It’s more about the short notice and allowing em to get up to speed. There are thousands of former nurses . I’m sure would go and help get the vaccinations done as ASAP. But it appears they are going to train outside. NHS sources.
Playing along, 9 months ago was the knowledge that the first vaccine to be rolled out would require storage at -80 deg C?
I made the tongue in cheek remark about furlough in regards to my own GP and the medical centre in which I have had problems getting contact with. This was not a go at GP` s in general and didn`t require the insult given later in the thread it was just my experience and the frustration it brought about for me and my circumstances at that point in time. You seem to aim your feelings towards me when others in the thread were talking more generally about GP`s. Glad to hear most posters have had better service from their doctors than I have, maybe time to look at a change.
I have registered online with my surgery, the other day I filled in a message box with some detail about a condition I had developed. 2 hours later I got a reply, a diagnosis, a prescription, and a very nice message from my GP. Excellent service. By the way my surgery publishes the salaries of the GP's in the practise on their website so I know the GP who dealt with me is paid £113,400 per annum. Worth every penny
Morning. ‘Didn`t realise GP`s were still practicing’ [SIC] is a generalisation. you along with a few others were contributing to the myth that GPs don’t do any work. It’s nonsense that gets peddled in the Daily Mail and the likes. I had to call that out, which is what I did.
Just for clarification, I personally didn't think they'd done nothing I just had no idea what they had been doing. There's no way that they would be sat doing nothing when hospitals couldn't cope
