Is anyone else reminded by Prof Van Tam of Penfold off danger mouse? Makes me chuckle every time I see him now....
Van Tam makes any piece of information unintelligible. “This to me is like a train journey, it’s wet, it’s windy, it’s horrible. And two miles down the tracks, two lights appear and it’s the train and it’s a long way off and we’re at that point at the moment. That’s the efficacy result. Then we hope the train slows down safely to get into the station, that’s the safety data, and then the train stops. And at that point, the doors don’t open, the guard has to make sure it’s safe to open the doors. That’s the MHRA, that’s the regulator,” he said. And when the doors open, I hope there’s not an unholy scramble for the seats. The JCVI has very clearly said which people need the seats most and they are the ones who should get on the train first.” Or he could have said “There’s a vaccine coming. We have to make sure it’s safe and then, although lots of people might want it, we have to work out who needs it first.” Just easier to understand like.
Or as Van Tam would have said…. Let’s take a brick building where a group of people live. And those people aren’t strangers or friends. No. Due to reproduction they are all related to each other. We call this a ‘family.’ Now let’s say they all sit and watch a piece of glass. We call this a 'television.' Images appear on this glass and some of those images are of people and one of those people is me. And when they see me on the piece of glass they all get a nice warm feeling. We call this a ‘household that loves me.”
He seems to be revelling in his seeming popularity and sadly, he's content to dumb down and accept the JVT moniker he's been dubbed with. The longer these scientists are in the public glare, the more i worry they'll be warped and seduced by the tory communication machine.
Yes. At this rate all the scientists will appear on a ‘Strictly’ special hosted by Johnson. The public vote for the winner and, well if he can tango, he must be right on the vaccine. Stands to reason.
