To quote Birmingham City manager Aitor Karanka. Do you know something, Aitor? You're absolutely right. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55053251
Yes he is right. We were much the better team for about 70-75 minutes, just a spell at the beginning of the second half either side of them scoring where we lost control and couldn't seem to string a couple of passes together. Lots to work on though, both in the defensive side and shooting at the goal. Another defensive lapse cost us a goal and another 12 shots with only 3 on target (how many times do we hear these quotes)
I saw the game last year and Brum were absolutely awful, and we contrived to lose 2-0. This year, brum were even worse and I’m really not sure how they’ve so many points. I’m not sure Karanka will be there too long.
Brums goal last night was a carbon copy of their goal at Oakwell. Trying to shepherd the ball out n' getting done through his legs. It was a shame because Andersen had a decent game and looked quite assured. He even bailed Sollbauer out with his pace in the first half sweeping up. That said he always looks like he's got that fook up in him. Halme steadied ship when he came on. No nonsense clearances towards end.
Can't be right, that's a professional football managers view, the bbs said we were ***** and going down.
Final home again of our promotion season against Blackpool. The last time in the Championship was against Sheffield United.
I only saw the second half but Birmingham didn't look up for it at all. I presume they must be better than they showed on that performance seeing as they had the same number of points as us, prior to the game. When Cauley scored the pen he went rushing to pick the ball up to get it back to the centre circle - as if we were losing. That showed to me that Barnsley knew they should be winning the game, and so it came to pass.
Almost as if they scored, and felt the need to park the bus. Two defensive subs were about to come on as we won the penalty. The frustrating thing for Brum fans would be, they should've known that our confidence would be down for a spell after conceding, given our record when going behind. They should've gone for a second to kill the game.
Believe me, they'd significantly upped their game by the time you tuned in. Brum were beyond awful in the first half. We could have been 4 or 5 goals clear at half-time, if only we could have hit the target.
Plenty have said we were **** and one even said we were going down last night, the negativity on this board this season as exceeded most of the previous seasons, even when we were ****. The level of criticism on here now means that there's comments about not scoring, when we do - its not from open play, when we score from open play... we can't score from corners...when we score from corners... The 80% mobs turning this lot into a mid table Championship side.
Enjoyed Brum away games on the whole. Been to every one since 1994. ( Barring last night) Looking at the stats over those years. Barnsley W 6. D 6 L 5 decent record by anyone’s standards.
