The Athletic are reporting that we're one of a number of clubs looking at Scunthorpe defender Jacob Bedeau. The other clubs are Luton and Rotherham. Link Interestingly he was at Bury at the same time as Callum Styles and George Miller and also at Orient at the same time as Victor.
I looked at the name Bedeau and was trying to think where I'd seen it before. Thankfully I don't remember anything of Tony's loan spell.
Remember seeing him come on as sub at Pompey and not making an Impact. I seem to recall he was on loan from Torquay United with a view to a permanent deal.
None of the players he brought in to freshen things up made the team better. Garry Jones had work rate. However, all he had was a steering job but was too daft to realise it. Dyer and Sheron were rattling goals in and he brought in Richard Naylor. He had our best 11 fully fit and managed to **** it up.
I didn't mind Parkin. He had a reight job on his hands after the previous DAFT GET had destroyed EVERYTHING.
Admitted he was dealt a poor hand with the timing of his appointment, but he made a load of good players look a bad team - week in week out. It was painful to put it mildly
I think he (Parkin) was an average, or even a below-average, manager. But compared to Spackman, it was like having peak Alex Ferguson in the dugout. That said - the memories are coming back, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh, make them stop! - wasn't he the one who signed Gibbs, and Flynn?
Before joining Scunny, he signed for Aston Villa from Bury at the age of seventeen for close on £900,000, so he most have something about him. He's still only twenty years old which fits our age profile criteria.
But to continue the Tony angle wasn’t he subject to big bids from premier teams while with Torquay? Didn’t make him a success at oakwell.
