What a player this lad is .

How his position within the team can be up for grabs is beyond me .

First name on team sheet for me

Not many can make the step up to international level and produce a display like that.
If he can reproduce that, most games, id build the team around him. Looks like this level suits him and was a pleasure to watch his every touch.

Hes taking us back imo, when he first come in he was different cos he dared to do what previous managers dared not to do......we played with a fearless attitude and it was a case of letting the opposition worry about us.......fast forward 2 year and we’re weak as piss going forward and back ri square ball England!!!

Closest player we’ve had to a Gascoigne in a long while...

Was never much of a fan, always came across as a bit of a show pony but boy has he developed as a player.
Fantastic performance from him tonight. Oozed quality....

Doesn’t help when we have a coach like Southgate.

    Got to say two things.
    1. Belgium are a dirty cheating side. Bought their second goal by cheating. Will run out of steam at a tournament with VAR. We outplayed them for long periods
    2. I keep saying this to anyone who will listen. Football is a team game. If you have a game during the week, pick the team you'll play when it counts, not your B team. Get em used to each other and forming a team.
Oh and can I have a no 3. Can itv ditch Roy Keane. He's a robot from the planet tharg who has been programmed never to say anything good about England. Fed up of him

Who?? Roy Keane?? He is a tw@t but I can't recall him wearing a headband. Walking his dog on a washing line maybe, but not a head band in fairness.

Same. Barkley had a spell in the team when we won the nations league previously & did really well. I’m not sure why he’s out of this squad when he’s been as good as any other English player this season

Was just thinking it reminded me of Gascoigne before 1990 WC, when he and Platt was told one game each for a place in squad.

But both Gascoigne and Platt were both in the World Cup squad for Italia 1990. Or have I misinterpreted your post?

And at the same time get rid of Glenda. Why SKY put up with Carragher, I have know idea. His voice sounds awful, which may be just about bearable if he knew when to shut up. All the summarisers have a tendency to tell us what we can see with our own eyes.

The thing i find most annoying about Carragher is he stops mid sentence and moves onto something else. Makes it hard to follow!

    Yes they was.
Both were told only space for one of them, but they both played so well, they both got in the squad and never looked back.

Didn't see the game last night so can't comment on his performance but when I watch him in PL games I generally have two competing thoughts. On the one hand his ball control, dribbling, vision, passing are all very good but he is at his best keeping the ball close to him and then 'going down' when touched and in the commentators words "buying a free kick". He wins loads of free kicks for that, think I read somewhere that he's the most fouled player in the PL. On the other hand the "buying of free kicks" is probably the thing I hate most about modern day football and as the player who does it most imo, I just can't admire / like the lad. It's the accepted norm in the game now, somehow it's been allowed to become embedded but for me that doesn't mean it's not cheating and so he's the best cheat.
