The video didn't show that, but yeah, that's out of order and twattish behaviour which undermines any valid points they have. But still, comparing a huge protest effectively against democracy with a small incident seems a bit like apples and oranges whataboutery to me. My issue is that your posts come across as being a bit intellectually dishonest - more often than not they're in favour of Trump/Republicans but always under the guide of "balance," as if you're pretending not to have a preference to lend your points some extra credibility.
The video I saw did show all of that. And my main point of mentioning it wasn’t to compare it to the protests going on in Washington, but to say how the media won’t show you some of the opposite instances, and that from what I’ve read and seen the arrests made in DC were due to left wing violence. That might have changed since. The fact you have an issue at all around my posts is worrying to me. Why? You have an issue with someone showing balance or a different perspective to what you believe in? There’s no dishonesty. I’ve said before I would have probably voted Republican if I lived in the US and I’ve listed reasons why. I’ve also never defended Trump and called things as they are - calling him and his team emotionally unhinged. I’ve also got a more real life view/experience of the US than most on here so I’m comfortable challenging extreme opinions that cast such a wide net over a country of such vast scale and size. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the inability to be able to have a grown up discussion without someone having an ‘issue’ is one of the most frustrating things
Maybe me. But the republicans seem to want to keep hold of the gun laws more than democrats. Which I find disturbing. Irrespective of intentions. I would think the more guns out there the more lunatics will use em. Maybe irrational. But how I perceive it.
I don't have an issue with someone having a different viewpoint to me at all. I do have an issue with someone having a different viewpoint but saying they don't so they can pretend to be impartial whilst slyly advocating for that view. "Emotionally unhinged" is very tame criticism and just plays into his cultured persona of being an outsider who doesn't play by the rules and have time for protocol. What about the malignant narcissism, racism or misogyny?
You still don’t appear to be able to let go of your anger. It’s really interesting. I’m not sure I fully understand your ‘issue’ because you’re certainly not referencing me in your words. I consider myself impartial because I’ll call both sides out and judge things individually. That is what impartial means to me. You’re trying to pour scorn on that because it’s a different view to yours. If I was behaving exactly the same, but advocating a lean towards your view, that issue you have wouldn’t be there. Emotionally unhinged was used as an example because it was recently said by me. There’s loads more examples but I’m not going to search them out. You won’t find me defending Trump on any of the things you just listed, but I will call out people who make wild claims on the US electorate, without any knowledge of it other than what they see on their one media source, and also contribute a differing of opinion based on evidence, facts, etc. because there are people on here who are capable of that grown up discussion. If I don’t have a different opinion then I likely won’t comment. The attempts to point score against me need to stop to be honest. As do the claims that I’m being dishonest. I’ve answered every question you’ve ever thrown at me haven’t I?
I’m sure that’s how most of us perceive it - more guns equals more risk. But I don’t think it’s a label that we should use against one party. Republican states are more ‘American’ and therefore more pro gun and 2A, but I don’t think it equates to more gun crime from that party, although I’m sure someone will throw up a stat that contradicts that.
I'm not doing that at all. I have no issue with people having alternative views. It's the disguising of positions which I find objectionable. I would have the same view if someone were doing the same thing on my side, I think integrity is more important than agreement. See my post in here - http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/latest-from-donald.296271/#post-2562083 I try and call out stuff that's wrong even if it's not on my side. As for this: I would refer to this: If I have misjudged you then I genuinely and sincerely apologise, but I'm not sure I have.
Let me guess.....good people on both sides, yeah? Can we please, all, stop using the term ‘antifa’??! It’s not a movement; it’s an appropriated abbreviation for ‘anti-fascists’, which I sincerely hope is an epithet we’d all want for ourselves. If you’re against anti-fascists, then by default you’re pro-fascist, so you can fuc.k right off.
Intelligent use of language and aggression there. Completely uncalled for and not needed. Will remember that. I’m against anyone who causes violence and distress for people. I assume you are too, so maybe your vitriol should be directed at those using ANTIFA in a negative way and not the way it’s intended or in your description? Or are you saying that it’s fine storming restaurants?
Misjudged me on what though? I’m still unsure what I’m being accused of. I have no desire to support violence, disruption, racism, misogyny, etc. That’s not me at all. But at the same time I understand why people would be against defunding the police, against the removal of fracking, against a national lockdown, increase in minimum wage, the early releases from prison, the blanket issuance of Visas, etc. All I’ve ever tried to say is that it isn’t as cut and dry, or simplistic, as some people like to suggest.
C'mon Ben, you're better than that - clearly not directed at you or any other sane individual on here, but I won't apologise for targeting any fascists with a bit of fruity language. I'd have had you down for the same pov!
You literally replied to me, quoted me, and worded it to look like a direct response? Apologies for reading that wrong mate
And I'm sorry if you thought I was targeting you! I was just hoping you and others would stop using the word antifa - as I said, it's not an organisation, it's short for anti-fascism, a way of thinking that helped defeat Hitler, for one thing! I'd hope we'd all agree that's a good thing. I'll repeat, anyone who's opposed to anti-fascism can 'fuc.k right off'.
In a world full of idiots there are without doubt some on the left and I'm happy for them to be called out on it. Not seen any of them invading state capitol buildings armed to the teeth, plotting to kidnap governors or trashing faith in a free and fair election yet though. Someone let me know when they do.
I’ve seen video evidence of disgusting behaviour from both sides, who knows who started what though, as these things are rarely reported without an agenda.
There's only one of the candidates with his own private militia who are armed to the teeth with more fire power than some countries including 50 cal machine guns mounted on pick ups and it aint Joe Biden.
