We had a spell for about 10 years (when we were good in the 90s) where the other team would sack their manager after a defeat about 2 or 3 times a season

Seems strange to wait over a week to do it, why now. I wonder if they've got someone lined up to take over, I wouldn't have thought they would give it to Rooney, I wouldn't anyway

Arent they about to be taken over by the cousins of the man city owners? Which will make them the richest club in england was supposed to go through thursday. If it happens nailed on big window for them in January and they wont be going down.

Why would they go for Derby though? Its not that big a club.

Apparently they're not that rich - more on a par with Sheff utds owners.

Maybe they see them as having real potential, massive catchment area of East Midlands with no real dominant team, own most of land around the ground etc?

It's been happening for a while now think it will be all done by end of next week. I'm not sure why derby, growing up I never saw man city as a massive club, and Bournemouth are a small club who have been bankrolled. Hope derby go down to be honest never liked them after we were relegated them at pride park and they sang well never play you again.

Brian Clough turned them and Forest into big clubs.

Both have a much richer history than the likes of Bournemouth

As much as I despise them: Lestoh have been Premier League champions, Champions League quarter-finalists, have billionaire owners, and either have, or will be, moving into a £100million training facility. Top of the Premier League and their Europa League group.

Even before then, in the Premier League era, they won two League Cups and had a couple of UEFA Cup runs, whilst Derby and Forest did... ummm... let me check. Zip, unless you count being the worst-ever Premier League team in the case of the former, and droning on about the 1970s, yet again, in the case of the latter.

Forest aren’t as big as Derby in the area
They also have next to no land at the ground

Yeah but Leicester aren’t available to buy and even if they were they would not be cheap by any stretch of imagination. Fan wise Leicester are strong in their city but Derby are more expansive in terms of fan base. Derby also despite lack of success compared to Leicester still attract similar attendances if not fractionally more.
They also did(not sure if still) owned all the land on the estate around their current ground, which commercially make them much more attractive than Leicester and their ground.

So you don’t count winning the First Division title or the European Cup as achievements then?

Not when they happened when I was less than two years old.

They're as relevant as our season in the Premier League is to a 22-year-old who doesn't support Barnsley - ancient history.

I mean, Preston North End were magnificent in 37BC, but they've done nowt since.
