However I don't understand the negativity aimed at our new manager after the Cardiff game and leading up to today's. He's 4 games in, 3 wins, 3 clean sheets.

No crowing, just seems odd. Sure we were poor at Cardiff, but I thought the overreaction was even greater than usual for this place.

For what it's worth, I think we look like we've more gosls in us with the change in shape, but I think we'll endure a couple of tonkings on the way.

I was surprised and disappointed at just how bad we were on Tuesday, against a side who hadn't managed to win at home until then.

Today is a superb reaction though and 3 wins and clean sheets from 4 is very impressive from our new gaffer. I've a feeling like we'll have more Cardiff performances to come under him, but it also seems like he's got the ability to get the team to win games when they're not playing pretty football all the time, like today and vs Watford. Personally, I don't care what sort of football we play as long as it gets results.

I didn't really see that Pete! Was it widespread?

My reading of the discussions was more along the lines of many people having given up on the Board - rather than the Coach. And ultimately he won't succeed longer term without having better support from the Board. We've just lost 3 Coaches who made the same point.

We've got a young squad and we're not world beaters in this league. We'll have good days and bad. There's always knee jerk reactions on here, win or lose. Hopefully we should be fine this year with a few more of the good performances and a few less of the bad.
    You reds!!!!

Exactly. I'd be very happy with a mid table finish this season and build from there. By definition that means we're gonna win a few, lose a few

I agree, I thought people seemed to be frustrated at the lack of striking options on Tuesday, but nothing over the top.

Don’t want to harp back to what I posted after the Cardiff result but the enormous difference easy twofold -
1 - not putting square pegs in round holes ( Freezer at wing-back). Should have gone with a different system with the personnel available.
2 - we don’t yet know how to handle physical sides like Cardiff. Have to learn to adapt.
That being said really really happy with today’s performance and result.

I think there was an over-reaction after Tuesday. I thought losing to Barnsley old boys and Boro (after we beat them so easily in the Cup) was worse. It was bad but as others have said we will get beaten by teams like Cardiff and look clueless sometimes, they’re a young team. Hopefully it’s mid-table this year.

I thought we had better options than what we put out on Tuesday and I thought we could have played in a much more effective way. We've lost a lot of games over the last few years at this level, but almost always that's been because the opposition have been better than us having spent far more money. That might also have been true on Tuesday, but for the first time since Morais was in charge, I felt the side was let down by the system and how they were asked to play. I think we're better than what we saw that night, but it wasn't that players had off games, they were selected in a formation and asked to play a system that didn't get the best out of what we've got.

That's the negative. The positive is obviously that we've won 3 out of 4 games so credit where it's due for that. I can't say anything about today as I didn't see it, but any victory away from home is a fantastic result.

    qpr red card helped us,
watford we were poor but hung on,
    cardiff we were woeful,
derby we were just about on par with them (they are bottom) but we knew where the onion bag was,
9/12 is an amazing start for the new gaffa, and something to build on but he must realise our standard of football isn't that great but so is the rest of the division too, in fact in general it's atrocious compared to usual but we are in unusual times
