The first half was a bit of a slog, but we upped our game after going in front. Conor Chaplin took his goal well, making the most of a terrible error by the Derby goalie. After going in front, I thought we played much better than Derby, without ever reaching anything like our best. We missed a couple of opportunities before Victor Adeboyejo's quite superb finish sealed the points.
Three wins in his first four matches is not a bad start to V.I.'s reign. Especially when we've had three clean sheets in those games, too.
I'm giving young Brittain my MOTM vote, but special mentions must be given to Styles, Woodrow, Chaplin, Walton, James & Victor for his brilliant goal.

Tremendous result for the reds but absolutely no credit from BBC whatsoever.
I switched on to the news and all they can talk about is a Biden win.

Well said Lil. However, I think we need to work on our ball retention - at times we were just giving it away and the ball was just coming straight back. Derby were poor, they created little and when they did Walton saved well.

Need to mention Callum Styles though as well, his tireless running is a credit to him and the team. It was a close call between the two Callum's for MOTM today and I haven't made my mind up yet.

Excellent. I need to have a think about MOTM, I can't decide. It says something though when you've got about half the team who could quite easily claim it, although I've got it between the two Callums. Both excellent today

I'm over the moon with both, Ian. :)
But, as has been said it's primarily a footy site, so will stick to footy for the night.
Fantastic win for the Reds. It's nice to not have to summon up courage to look at the league table for a change.

Big win today. Sat nicely in mid table. A defeat and we'd have been hovering above the bottom 3.

    I'm the same.

That Britain has almost been faultless since he arrived. And today, he also showed skills that he can beat a player and whip in a cross.

Im kind of siding with styles, due to his extra defensive duties today, which were bloody excellent

Agreed, he was faultless in defence and produced several cracking crosses.

Before I make a comment, three out of four wins for the new boss; three clean sheets, and an awful off day in Wales, is exemplary.

However, we have still not resolved one of our long-term issues. We make so many chances, which is awesome, but the final shot, or the final pass before the final shot, breaks down too many times. When we are keeping clean sheets, it is not much of a worry. However, it is a big worry in the close 1-0 games, of which there are many in this league.

BTW. I think they heard me in Los Angeles when I screamed Victor's name. So happy for the young lad with his goal, and his hold-up play was good too.

The new Head Coach has only been in charge for two weeks, so there's no way he can sort everything out in that time and I certainly wouldn't expect him to. I'm simply enjoying the start we have made under him.

I've only seen highlights of our games this season, haven't yet watched us kick a ball in anger online or on TV, or listened to any radio coverage. I've been letting my son use my iFollow codes for the home games whilst he's at Birmingham University.

Quarter of the season gone and I think I'd have to say it seems that things are moving in a positive direction. Looking at teams below us is a nice change at this stage, and our record of 3 wins, 4 draws and 4 defeats is pretty much as good as I think we could expect of a young team, the inconsistency is there and I don't think it's a surprise. Frustrating maybe, but not unexpected and whilst I've not posted on here regularly for quite a while, it's clear from reading the threads on our matches that we've had chances to be higher up the table. But I'm sure many clubs would say the same too.

So all in all, I'm hopeful that we are seeing some slow and steady progress with the team at this level. Next transfer window is a bit of an unknown quantity for me. We know where our inconsistencies and weaknesses are at the moment, but with the extended absence of crowds at matches, I don't know what to expect in the next window from either Barnsley or many of our Championship rivals. I suspect that there will be a lot of nervousness and caution about spending any money given what's going on.

Just longing for a return to Oakwell.
