    I watched it last weekend and it never crossed my mind. I even saw the hashtag on social media a day or two later and still didn't join the dots. Saying that, I don't have any physical abnormalities. I see where they're coming from, but it's probably a bit OTT.

    I've been following this issue as there's a small local charity which does fantastic work with kids with this and similar conditions (LimbBo Foundation if anyone's interested). They have had kids and their parents upset that the film is helping perpetuate a view that being 'limb different' as it's apparently called, is associated with being scary or evil, and must be covered up. I think they have a point tbh..

    I havent seen the film so its hard to comment but I will have a go anyway as it doesnt stop most people
    Anne Hathaway is able bodied and so understandably didnt think about the effects her malformed hands would have on those who actually have a disability. I guess the same is true of whoever decided that was how the witch should look.

    Alex Brooker has disabled hands - he isnt at all easily offended and happily makes light of the disability
    If he thinks the portrayal is unhelpful to those with disabilities I am inclined to think he has a point

    I expect now that she has had the effects of the portrayal explained she is genuinely sorry for any (accidental ) upset she has caused and so feels the need to apologise. I think thats actually a good thing.

    I am guessing the OP does not have a disability so because he cant see anything wrong those with disabilites shouldn't be upset either. Not sure if that's a great position to take.
