He's got to he's got too many deals in the pipeline linked to Brexit. Same goes for many Tories, expect some not so subtle endorsements from certain MPs on Twitter etc in the coming days.
I can't see the problem dealing with the yanks. It might start the return of heavy industry to the U.K they will be U.S based firms but they will employ U.K citizens.
I don’t have a problem dealing with the US on trade. I have a problem who does though. And he’d be the last person on the planet. Hope he attains American citizenship. And has his UK citizenship revoked. Keep the snake over there. They’re welcome to him.
Not much evidence of that in the USA, so let’s not hold our breath for an industrial Trump revolution happening here.
The environment can't take another industrial revolution based on climate change denying. The only industrial expansion MUST be at the very least carbon-neutral and hopefully carbon negative. Otherwise we're doomed....
The American firms will only bring jobs/manufacturing to the UK if we can undercut the costs of Asia and/or Latin America significantly. That is not just wages, but conditions too - so we would be paid significantly less and have less protection through H&S and other legislation - including the "instant" sackings that are common in the USA. We don't have the primary industry to generate the raw materials required for manufacturing. We do have deposits of iron, copper, etc but the cost and environmental damage mean that we are reliant on imports which increase the cost.
There's been no return of heavy industry to the US, so I wouldn't hold your breath. All those wonderful promises Lord Dampnut made ahead of the 2016 election have, very unsurprisingly, come to 'nowt.
Aye, Trump has again vowed to bring back American manufacturing jobs to the States if he wins, despite not fulfilling that promise last time. As said, he won't be doing anything to help Boris and his Monster Brexit Looney Party, although he did offer to send Boris a box of chlorinated chicken free of charge. Mind you the Tory spin doctors immediately proclaimed it to be a major trade deal
Nice to see he's been given travel exemption :-(. Sure he was telling people outside of UK to keep their nose out of British politics during Brexit
Why would the US export jobs to the U.K.? Genuinely puzzled. I can see a point to it if we were in the EU (the same way it worked for Japanese car makers), but outside the EU dealing on WTO terms with the world I can’t see how it makes any sense.
