Senokot or would I have been better with Dulcolax? How long dose Senokot take to work in anyone's experience? Took one last neet n neowt as yet, Bloody Co codamol dunt afe bung you up.
i have the same problem with my heart meds and tramadol, plenty of water and dulcolax, or maybe a gallon of sam smiths soveriegn
A decent curry usually works for me Just don't forget to put a bog roll in the freezer overnight ready for the morning
I'm on Omeprazole for acid reflux. I'm always hungry and need a **** at least once a day, sometimes much much more.
Prior to having my hip replacement operation I took twelve 30/500 Co- Codomol daily which we know contain paracetamol and codeine. As a cocktail they are notorious for " bunging" you up. A specialist I once consulted recommended LAXIDO as the perfect solution to the problem and he wasn't wrong. It was in powder form and was Orange in flavour. Mixed in water I had to take one first thing in a morning and one before I went to bed. Credit where it's due, it had me as regular as clockwork. I believe you have to get it on prescription. Another effective solution for constipation and irritable bowel syndrome is FYBOGEL. It's in powder form and you dissolve it in water and it's available in either Lemon or Orange flavours. My sister buys it via Amazon when she forgets to order it on prescription.
When I read the title at first, I thought Boris had resigned and they were advertising for a replacement
Co codamol are sent by the devil. Get off them as soon as you can, would be my advice. Whenever I've had them, they give me terrible dreams. My husband recently had a hip replacement. The fist night he came home, I set him up in our bedroom all propped up in bed, so he couldn't roll onto his hip. I went in the spare room. I'm not kidding, I could hear his stomach churning from the other room - it was like someone had turned the washing machine on. The Co-codamol messed his stomach up so badly I was on the verge of calling 999 because he passed out in agony. In answer to your question - any tinned fruit in syrup. Far nicer than the awful laxatives and softeners and does the same job.
My missus swears by Dulcolax. Literally. Takes them last thing at night, then hangs the Do Not Disturb sign on the loo door next morning. Lucky for me we also have a downstairs WC.
If anyone does stop taking them, please consult your GP before you do. I'm sure that the advice will be to gradually wean yourself off them. If you just stop taking them, you will probably find that you need to use the loo at periodic intervals and instead of a normal stool, you end up parting with what can best be described as akin to rabbit " tods." I was on twelve tablets every day and my doctor gave me a plan that saw me reduce by two tablets over a period of two week intervals ( circa 10 weeks) . As Fired rightly says, they are not good for you long term as they are very addictive. I had acute hip pain and postponed having a replacement for around five years. The relief from the daily pain when I did have my op was incredible. I had been acting as a coward, but honestly, it's the best thing I ever did.
Wow, that is a huge dose. Just one tablet sends me loopy. Glad to hear it's gone well though. My husband was going really well, but missed a step the other day, and it's set him back. Hopefully just a blip.
