Great win. Up and running now. Not used to free flowing attacking football. The pitch didn't look too clever though hindered our movement. It got stuck under feet quite a bit.
Started really poorly but seemed to settle. Some lovely periods of footy and James looked just the player we needed. If we can improve our shooting a bit we'll hammer a few teams this season I reckon. QPR had a mare tonight though...
And that ladies and gentlemen is why schmidt doesnt start and why on that second half showing both him and chaplin are league one strikers at their best Plus why we actually need a big centre forward.... Yes we won which I'm thankful for but the vast majority of the game in my opinion we laboured against 10 men I thought Matty James looked head and shoulders above anybody else tonight 3pts is 3pts but I bet the gaffer is fuming at those missed chances......styles ran round like an headless chicken at times and needs velcro on his boots.... We missed a very good opportunity to have improved the goal plus total by at least another 5 if not more tonight Guess I shouldn't be moaning because we won ..... positive ...a clean sheet Glad we got the 3 pts....
think it should have been 11.......3 scored plus shouldas .....schmidt 3 Chaplin 2 Simoes 2 Mowatt1. Shooting practice tmrw!! Like others have said...Matty James is on a different level. Well done you Reds!!!!
QPR looked like they couldn’t be arsed getting back to defend, they were all over. When Schmidt came on I said “be nice if he comes on, gets involved and gets a goal” well he certainly should’ve done. Should’ve been at least double what we got. But we can’t grumble at 3 points and a clean sheet. Onwards and upwards.
Happy with the points - James best player on the park by a country mile enjoy him whilst he’s here - think we’ve got a gem in Brittain he looks quality. The last half hour showed why where a bottom half club we just don’t take our chances didn’t last season and haven’t done so far this season. Its frustrating but missed chances aside we’re a lot better than the table suggests. Great start for gaffer onto Saturday now.
Bit of a roller coaster in some ways. We looked under real pressure first 10 mins and i feared the worst if they scored when on top. we slowed the game down and got into it. My nerves calmed and the pen and sending off set us on a good win. The second then sealed it. but then the second half was crazy With a fortunate third and the attacking performance makes me wonder if the ghost that is the unsigned striker will still haunt us this season. Especially if Woodrow is carrying an injury now and seeing Simoes, Chaplin, Schmidt miss so many ‘Easy’ chances that you don’t have to be prolific to at least score one or two of. while the game finished with me feeling happy and somewhat relieved we had a win on the board i also felt disappointed that we didn't make a statement and the forward players didn't claim a place.
