There's only one question to put to people on this thread really - has the Government been incompetent or not re: the pandemic? Forget other countries. Forget the Labour Party. They're irrelevant on this. I may be wrong in pushing my own opinion given it's my own question but I think, sadly, the Government has let the entire country down. If anyone disagrees with me I'd like to read a logical reason why I'm wrong.

We are all entitled to opinions but you post both the title and content do you absolutely no credit. Criticism is fine, but rather than mere insults provide evidence and facts as to why you believe he is wrong rather than resorting to childish invective and name calling.

 

This Rishi Sunak B3llend is ok with the ERG (Mogg and his gang ) being funded by Taxpayers money but will not allow Taxpayers to fund underprivileged children 1 square meal a day while off school.

 

While working as an investment banker in the mid-2000s, Rishi Sunak was one of those directly involved with investment gambles that directly lead to the credit crunch. He might be well qualified and a clever man (and married the daughter of a billionaire), but his actions then had serious repercussions for the future. His actions while chancellor, in ignoring a large number of self-employed people (including our own John Peachy) and ending the furlough scheme without any thought to the effects of future lockdowns (local or national) weren't great either.

He also broke lockdown restrictions the other day, by holding a meeting in a pizza restaurant and describing it as a "business meeting" .

Supporting 'bad; business through "once in a century" conditions is probably a better idea for mortgaging their future than paying for Trident, HS2 or Brexit, but those costs are spent without a seconds thought.

 

Hmmm another one of the 'clique' on here (see my post #46) incapable of making comments without giving your ideas as to how to solve all the economic problems caused by Covid.
Like I said in another post, IMO they HAVEmade an error of judgement re public opinion not to directly fund the school meals for that relatively short period of time i.e. the school holidays for those already eligible (and therefore in need of) free school meals. The biggest problem though is the insistence that they "will ensure no child goes hungry "and imply therefore that there are other avenues of funding provided to ensuring that that does not happen WITHOUT GIVING ANY DETAILS.
They have clearly not learned the lesson where the Universal Credit superceded the old benefits system where payment of rent to landlords for tenants on benefits was made directly from benefits. the new system relies on tenants paying their rent and unfortunately some do not ring fence that portion of their benefits and end up in arrears. This results in a reluctance of landlords to take on people on benefits (understandable even though that is illegal to discriminate) as they risk renting to someone with a bad credit rating.
issuing vouchers must be a simpler system than having to add it so, for example the universal credit payments. It also risks the above that the additional payments in a few cases not reaching those it is intended for. i.e. the children.
Nevertheless, back to my original point, calling someone a B3llend does not move the debate forward.

I sometimes wonder if we said....." lets try and debate political threads on here without personal insults towards politicians, political parties and other posters and stuck to the facts (verifiable and not hearsay, gossip and rumour) how long it would last. I suspect it would be less than a day and more probably an hour or two at best.

I would have taken more notice if the source was not that once great Guardian Newspaper, that has gone from being a bastion of investigative Journalism to a Left Wing 'rag' (not a million miles form Socialist Worker) and who are now 'smearing' Sunak at every opportunity. Whilst there is no doubt the basis of truth in allegations they are obviously digging deep to discredit someone whose past, (not that he is accused of doing anything illegal but rather amoral behaviour that is endemic in bankers and the wealthy elite working the system).

The latest offering, however is pitiful and is a poor headline of him allegedly breaking Covid rules by holding a meeting in a Pizza restaurant. their last sentence in the article contradicts the headline.. 'Attendees were pictured seated apart from one another around long tables, with pastries and water'.(note the word 'tables (plural))
So according to the Guardian if so a large group meet but sit apart at different tables and communicate at distance. How does that break rules or, by association are they saying that only one family at a time can be in a restaurant?

He added: “What we would ask people to do wherever possible is to hold meetings remotely, via phone or via video conference or whatever it might be.”

Challenged about whether Sunak had broken the rules, a Treasury spokesperson said: “The restaurant was not a functioning restaurant at the time. There were no customers in the restaurant at the time and it was all Covid-secure including face masks worn and social distanced.”

I find myself ignoring posts on these threads nowadays as soon as I see 'The Guardian' articles being used as a reference as they are fast descending to the levels of the gutter press..

 

And you have full access to the Govt spending, levels of debt, future interest rates on borrowing for the foreseeable future?. Wow!! can you back up your assertion with some facts please as to how you know this?

a) They are not my "beloved Conservative Party" as I have not voted for them. nor do I dispute that they are not in disarray over Covid. I DO dispute that they are alone in being criticised from all side, from people like yourself tyhat would not have clue how to handle the situiation if you were given the keys to No.10.
Note riots in Italian cities, France and demonstrations in other countries over how their respective Governments are (mis) handling? the crisis.

I still think we should have kept Brad Potts, instead of selling him while Daniel was at home watching TV. Granted, Jacob Brown did well enough as a replacement, but still, it was a bad move, and now Browny's gone as well. Matty James is class, but we've still lost that bit of width which made us a different team.
