Thomas not doing enough for me so not making bench. That bench looks pretty decent too.

Bench looks pretty decent because four of them should be in the Starting XI.

Anderson doesn't need a rest, Mowatt and Palmer I thought were great tonight, and Freezer scored and really helped with our lack of physicality. Let him and Woodrow see if they can built on that, not chop and change when there's no real need.

Helik worries me. His decision making still looks suspect and I'm not sure he has any pace over five yards which gets him in to trouble. At fault for the first goal for me and although it was a great block for the Brown chance, he got turned inside out too easily.

That's an ideal world. We all know "best 11" and " grumpy farts select XI" will never come to pass;).

Would have James or Palmer for Simoes and push forward Kane

Palmer I think is a really good player, but so is Styles and he was first name on team sheet end of last season beginning of this. Hopefully freezer can build on the performance tnyt. I think Schmidt is a natural finisher tho and needs a run of games. Could be wrong. As for defence, nobody has really had a bad game so could be any in starting line up for me.

Mowatt would be in my starting eleven every time.

How on earth could you drop Mowatt after tonight? And to replace him with Kane who had a stinker when he came on?

With the emergence of Palmer we probably didn’t need both of James & Kane. It’s going to be frustrating having to leave good players on the bench when we’re lacking further up the pitch but unless we’re going to play an unbalanced team James & Kane will have to bide their time & wait for a chance when the players playing have bad games. Then there’s Styles to come back as well which makes it even tougher but Simoes played well & scored so it’s hard to justify dropping him to play any of the above as a no. 10.

We played well tonight. Walton messed up & Oduor wasted great chances to set up or score an equaliser but we have no other left backs & Collins was awful against Chelsea so I wouldn’t change anything. Same team & same level of performance & logic suggests Walton isn’t going to give a goal away & we’d hopefully make more of our opportunities

I agree with your first paragraph and I doubt Soli will play I think Helik's decision making will improve, as we know getting used to the championship takes time.

The team when everyone is fit and ready picks itself

    Walton
    Sollbaure Helic Anderson
    Williams Kane James Mowatt Oduor
    Woodrow Frieser

Good options now on the bench and unlucky for some but we are in the championship.

    Collins
    Styles
    Palmer
    Schmidt
    Brittain

Assuming Sollbauer is available, and James is still needing to come off the bench...

    GK: Walton
    LWB: Odour
    CB: Sollbauer
    CB: Andersen
    CB: Williams
    RWB: Brittain
    CM: Mowatt
    CM: Palmer
    CM: Kane
    CF: Woodrow
    CF: Frieser

I don't think having all three big centre halves in a three works, so Williams would need to be in there, so a coin toss between Andersen and Helik to play alongside Sollbauer. Now Frieser has started, and got a goal, should give him and Woodrow a run of games up front to establish a partnership, and if James isn't fit, they're our best three midfielders imo.

Wouldn't be against the idea of putting Styles at LWB either.

Seems a really challenge to leave out any of Styles, Mowatt, Kane, James or Palmer.

Don’t see how they all fit into an XI though.

They can't all play. Styles could play on the left of the current system, or at the top of the diamond, with Mowatt and Kane playing either side of either Palmer or James though.

We've got a decent squad now. I think we just need the right blend up front.

Think we could do with Sollbauer back on Saturday with Millwall being another physical side and they’ve got that human battering ram Matt Smith upfront.

One of the most galling things about us selling so many of our players, is that we seem to face an ex Barnsley XI every other week with players just ready to do us over!

Note... some use of hyperbole may have been used for effect in this post
