Was watching local football at Hanwell Greater London last night and they did pukka pies as well as the obligatory burgers down here, Only beef or chicken but it's a start

We've slipped from tier 3 travel restrictions to pie talk. This is my type of conversation:)

I started this thread and I'm off to shop in a bit to get something for tea, so the question is what type of pie shall I get? :D

You will manage it fella. I was never fat but lost well over a stone this year without a struggle. Walk for an hour or two a day to get in at a steady pace 3-5 miles, replace chips with salad with whatever you have for evening meal and for 'afters' instead of a chocolate bar have a banana or some other fruit. That's all I did. No mass dieting or gym membership. It will drop off you.

I can only endorse what DB3K has said. I retired last year and the simple act of a bit more exercise (I try and aim for 10k steps a day - about 1 hour to 1.5 hours) and replace some biscuits or choccy with fruit worked a treat. I too lost about a stone in just over a few weeks.

That said I know it can be difficult when you work and have a young family, so do what you can. Take small steps initially and do small adjustments, but the main thing for me is get more exercise. Burns calories as well as strengthens muscles and bones. For instance - are you able to get out for a walk at lunchtime? 10-15 minutes here and there and it soon adds up.

Last two weeks I've averaged 79 minutes per day on my step app. I'll try and get that up to ninety by walking for 15 mins at lunch time.

Crystal clear to me , in other words avoid unless you have to do any of the things they mention on the list.

I agree. Do only as much as you want to do and when you have the time to do it. Don't be setting goals of a specific distance or time to go out at. That way it keeps relaxed and more fun. We are blessed in Yorkshire that with all the countryside it's like having a free gym on your doorstep.

For months it was far easier as all the big chain fast food places were shut as well as pubs so less temptation was around. Now whilst I have had a couple of Subway sandwiches I haven't for ages had Mcdonalds or KFC, just the occasional takeaway from a local for some pizza. Being out in the cold doesn't matter as you soon warm up. It's the days when it's raining that put you off the most.

I usually pace the platform before I get the train on a morning to get extra steps in. The other Friday. I was stopped on the platform at Rotherham and a guy asked if I was schizophrenic. I had to explain that I had a step app on my phone.
