Unlikely I know but how about this Though I do note that Cummings couldnt even get all the local Tory MP's to sign this apart from Robinson they are all new (and stupid as its not likely to enhance their chances of re-election next time) I also note that replies are disabled on this tweet not hard to guess why And in true Tory form it contains a whopping great lie The Government did not offer 92% of what he asked for but since when did facts matter I could write an essay on this but I don't think its needed
They don't really give a **** about the north. They bought the votes on the Brexit issue & know it's now going to be a train crash & in 4 years they won't have a prayer. Mind they will have jettisoned Johnson by then & will no doubt start talking about the northern powerhouse. Poorhouse would be more appropriate.
I’ve never heard of the 6 signatories of that letter but I can guarantee that Burnham has done 10x more for the Greater Manchester region than the rest of them put together. Whether you like his politics or not, he’s a man of principle who puts his constituents first. Those lot will be out of a job in 4 years and rightly so, it’s a disgrace that letter.
And you still get some on here defending them - there's been posts already this morning from some Tory wnkers on here deflecting the blame. It's incredible.
One Manchester MP you will have heard of is Sir Graham Brady - who I note refused to be seen anywhere near that letter. I cant stand the bloke and totally disagree with his stance on most things but he is a rare Tory MP who has some backbone
So just to clarify Burham is political point scoring according to the Gov but one day later they post something full of lies, disable replies so no one can correct them (surely illegal for a government to silence journalism?) and that isn’t point scoring? They must think the people of Manchester are thick as pig **** to fall for this.
It’s coming to something when people choose what political persuasions are having to do deals with a Govt that’s supposedly for the people . People livelihoods , health etc having to be negotiated in slimy deals with a slimy govt . I don’t see this as anything other than Tory Party point scoring and opportunism but whatever the outcome this slimy load of toads don’t come out anything other than charlatans . Tory Media got their work cut out on this one they’ll really have to roll out the Brexit slogans to rally their fold .
Indeed I do know Brady, he's the chair of the 1922 committee if I'm not mistaken. Good on him for not putting his name to that letter. The problem with these newly elected Tories who only got in because of Brexit is that they owe everything to Mr Cummings, so when he tells them to jump they ask how high? My MP in Wakefield Imran Ahmad Khan is the same.
One other thing leaving aside whether its a good idea or not they just in the aftermath of yesterdays fiasco agreed a package of 41Million with South Yorks covering 1.4 Million people but wouldnt agree 65Million with Greater Manchester covering 2.8Million people Id like to know what their explanation is for such a huge discrepancy
Begging bowl politics being waged against elected officials, got to be an idea dreamed up by an unelected twerp who likes to test his eyes at 40mph.
Maybe after seeing what occurred in Greater Manchester he's not involving himself in their games and begging bowl politics? When the brown stuff hits the fan, the finger of blame then is solely on the Tories for underfunding. Sad thing is folk will die or get hurt to get to that point.
It's nothing more than the tory Government wanting to discredit a high profile labour mayor, who was a labour cabinet minister, at the cost of the people in the area. Liverpool, Lancashire and Sheffield probably had the exact same conversations with Govt as Burnham did, but they got their equivalent of the 60m, while Manchester were sent to the scrapheap. Purely in the hope that people would turn against Burnham, and the call for the 80% furlough to be reinstated. Utter scum.
Yes, but it’ll be nothing to do with a paltry £20m of regional funding and everything to do with the enforcement of lockdowns, so shamefully supported by both major parties and the majority of a terrified public.
It's only £30m as £11m of that is for track and trace Jarvis has done a really good deal here................. The figure is lower, per head, than the packages agreed by Lancashire and the Liverpool city region, the first two areas to go into tier 3 last week. It works out as £22.77 a head, compared with abouut £28 a head in the other two regions.
I disagree but shouldn’t the conversation be about why everyone should be treat the same and if not why not ? Why are individual areas having to beg and negotiate with the Govt? It’s a national crisis but yet Boris walks amongst us with a begging ball throwing sweets to some and gruel to others it’s a scandal imo .
