All Burnham's fault for unreasonably wanting the government to honour its promises to compensate those forced to stop work

    Democracy in action

Can see little revolts up and down the country now and putting an end to stupid lockdowns. Another example of the government having lost control. It can't even control it's local council's.

He should have stood his ground. I don't think any council has it in them to not let Boris bully them.

Bit confused here - Burnham has stood his ground and as a result the tories are ignoring him - seems he has too choices - agree to lockdown and watch Manchester get destroyed due to lack of goverment support and get blamed for being unreasonable
or agree to a deal which is far less than is needed and get blamed for selling out
Burnham isnt the bad guy here

You do realise that he has stood his ground and therefore the government have the power to impose restrictions on him - without his input.

I'm sure it'll be in The S*n shortly for you to link us to.

If talks have concluded without an agreement then what are these reports saying Burnham has agreed on a set amount of money? I'm confused by it all to be honest.

Well even Laura Kuensberg on the BBC is saying its being imposed - and she can hardly be accuesed of anti Tory bias

"The highest tier of Covid restrictions are expected to be imposed on Greater Manchester after talks over financial support broke down.

BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg said local leaders had asked for £65m but would now get less than £60m."

    He hasn't.

I've got Sky News on at the minute, and Burnham wanted 75/80m to prop up businesses/jobs etc but the government would budge above 55m. Burnham then made a last attempt at 65m but was told to whistle. That's from Beth Rigby just now.

It bodes well for the Brexit Deal - such is the skills of master negotiator ******** Johnson.

Difference is with Manchester he can impose his wishes and they have no choice
WIth the EU that doesnt work - they have the power to tell him to f3ck off and will do

Has Andy Burnham decided that no deal is better than a bad deal ?

MP for Oldham and Saddleworth, Debbie Abraham’s on LBC said the £5m is not the case, but couldn’t comment further at the moment
