Do you believe that the same principle should apply with other contagious viruses? Enforced isolation to prevent thousands of deaths every winter? I'm not arguing deleted is right by the way, I'm just questioning the hypocrisy of our current stance.
It's a very good question - I don't have an answer, and I don't agree with our current stance, it's a complete shambles. I just think it's a proper cnts trick to deliberately ignore advice and procedure to cause danger to potentially hundreds of people that's all. If my mum or dad happened to catch something from one of these I'm Alright Jack Wnkers, I'd would be doing something about it. And if that makes me a hypocrite then so be it.
That doesn't make you a hypocrite as you haven't said that other deaths are just one of those things or tried playing down the seriousness of other viruses that kill like a few on here have. I won't be downloading the app unless I absolutely have to because it is a completely flawed app that isn't fit for purpose. However if I was told to isolate because I'd been in contact with someone I would be asking for as much information as possible regarding how close I had been to that person etc and if I agreed with them I'd isolate no problem at all. If I didn't agree because it was caused by a flawed app then I would kick up a fuss and take it as far as possible.
Yeah I get that - and I fully understand your point. I've downloaded it because I kind of just did it - plus it's easier to scan in at the gym and cricket club etc than having to write down names and numbers etc.
They wouldn’t tell you to isolate initially, they would ring you up advise you someone has advised you have been in close contact, they then explain the close contact definition and ask you if that’s the case. If you confirmed they would then tell you to.
This is something I've brought up before, every one of us on here will have at some stage passed something along and been part of a "chain" that has led to someone's death. Many people will have done this with relatives they provide care for. So now we've adopted a different moral stance in repsonse to this contagion can we ever return to how things were before? When will it ever be considered "safe" for vulnerable to mix again? Because the truth is it never was and it never will be.
It shows that the previous behaviour of having a cold/cough etc whilst going about your everyday business/going in to work was/is quite the wrong thing to do. At best you're making someone poorly, at worst you risk spreading it to someone who might die. I suspect the idea of turning up at work like that will be a thing of the past. A bit like smoking in the office or pub.
But we have always known this, it isn't like we have only just discovered it. We've always known we just didn't care as we are, as a human race, extremely hypocritical.
I actually don’t have that much of an issue with this principle, but surely there’s no one in Britain who has an ounce of confidence in PC Plod properly maintaining the data in an appropriately secure environment? Might as well post it straight on the dark web and have done.
Maybe so, it certainly used to annoy me when working with people who had cold thinking I would ge getting it next. But that doesn't address the asymptomatic spread of viruses.
Surely we will have to maintain a national testing process for other viruses. Test people randomly and if they test positive they go home on SSP for two weeks. If too many people test positive we close businesses. It's the only reasonable way forward if we actually care about human life and not just about looking good on a league table.
It's the only logical response really, given what we have seen the last 7 months. It's all well and good saying Flu isn't as contagious or we have a vaccine, that's little to comfort to those who it kills every winter.
They ring back, again and again and again, even at all hours we had calls at 9pm. They leave messages saying they will ring back and to be available, if you have a mobile they send you a text
There are and have always been notifiable diseases. This is based on the infection rate, not the severity of the symptoms.
The British government have a pretty good record of data security. but Dido Harding? Less so. your post spreads misinformation whilst ignoring the actual point of risk.
And so it should be, if you're I'll you shouldn't be pressured to go to work to spread your germs around.
Or drink driving. Something which was seen as a bit naughty 30 years ago is now viewed as socially unacceptable. I often went to work with a cold - maybe even the flu - but it was the norm, it felt like if you didn't it would be viewed as absenteeism and would count against you when redundancies etc were being considered. If this pandemic changes that then all for the better as far as I'm concerned
Depends what you mean by drink driving. Going to the pub, getting rat arsed and driving is considered disgraceful by many but going to the football or to a restaurant, pub, cinema or bowling alley and having a couple and driving home is something that still happens far too regularly and people tend to ignore it.
