I rule I never knew a player can’t be sent off for violent conduct on a player who may have been marginally offside. Who knew. Apart from Pickford obviously

You might find it different if they swung a fist at the other player.

And if a player can be sent off before and after kick off, it makes sense that they can also be punished just after an offside.

He should have walked irrespective of the offside

This is why the new offside rule is a nonsense. Flag as soon as the player is offside to cut out all the nonsense that could occur afterwards.

The game is run by idiots who don't know what they're doing or what impact they're having on the game

They've just said that you can be sent off for violent conduct but not serious foul play - which is what this was apparently.

Either way, the rule is wnk.

Peter Walton’s just said players are still responsible for their actions if play continues until an offside is called. It’s just another illustration of what an absolute liability Pickford is, should not be playing for Ingerrrland.
