I just thought you were better than that. The repetitive constant twattish professed good vs evil battle that has gone on here since noah was a lad, yes, very much so. Very annoying. Why people have to stir from both sides of the divide I really don't know. Judge everything on merit and add opinion by all means. Opinion should be fluid. Not constant irrespective of what changes over time.
I just get annoyed sometimes at the constant negativity aimed at the club when there doesn't appear to be anything to be negative over. We've started the day off well by all accounts, signed a promising midfield player. And yet, there's another post bashing the club for selling a player (that we still haven't sold) for less than someone else. I apologise if you feel my post wasn't needed, it was meant to be a bit of light hearted fun. I'm trying to invoke a bit more positivity, and I might have gone the wrong way about it.
I can understand the annoyance. And its on both sides. That even the most indefensible act can be defended to the hilt by some. Its also tedious and annoying when others try and paint people into a corner and theres then a constant flow of the usual suspects chiming in on the extremes. I can understand your frustration and I agree some of the hugely negative comments in advance that can't possibly judge outcomes at this point is just not needed. I think this place would be a much better place if there wasnt a constant stirring of happy clapper vs the never happy and the goading that goes with it to get nibbles from each side that generally descent into baiting and personal hostility. Opinions should be fluid. Players need time and need to settle and are affected by a coach, formations and circumstance. Even mood. Many things we aren't aware of. But it's also true that fans should be able to hold views and hold the powers that to be to account and question, analyse and be able to challenge. We're all Barnsley fans.
He’s a midfield player, has never been a goal scorer, he’d been on loan in Istanbul prior to the move - and the signing was made in July, leaving plenty of time and opportunity to bring in a replacement if he was needed. It’s about as far away a comparison as you could possibly have found and makes it amongst the most twattish posts today. Well played, that’s some achievement on here at the moment. Comparing fees obtained by other clubs at the same level for players in the same position of a similar age and similar record is more than legitimate. If you think £2million for Woodrow is market value when Karlan Grant has been sold for £15million, fine. Charlton will get more than bloody £2million - for a player they’d sold nearly two years ago - with their 20% sell on. Moan about making comparisons as much as you want - but Brentford have brought in nearly £60mil for two forwards this window. Higher level of player - yeah ok. They signed Ivan Toney, who hadn’t kicked a ball in anger in the championship, for an initial £5million with a lot of add-ons potentially taking it to £7m. Huddersfield got £15million for Grant. Grant in my eyes would be worth more than Woodrow, yeah. Not 7.5 times more though. And Woodrow has a comparable league one record to Toney, plus has proven he can do it at this level - so surely can’t be seen to be of less value than him. If Woodrow leaves today it shouldn’t be for a penny under £5million - but we all suspect they’d sell at an offer north of £2million - and who/what would we get as a replacement? That is the point I make and the one I’ve seen made by everyone else, I see it as perfectly legitimate. We never seem to get even decent value for the players we sell. If they refuse an offer of more than that, or sell him for a better fee than those quoted and bring in a decent replacement, then ok. They’ve done good business apparently so far today (for which I praised them on the kane thread) - so we will have to see.
I understood the sentiment too Archey, even if others didn't. I too come on here to have a laugh and a joke with others, 'tis what life's all about. Laugh, or you cry. Can't please everyone all the time
