    As much as what I agree with the ‘whatever people are willing to pay’ one everyone keeps banding about....it works both ways, it’s also ‘whatever your willing to sell for’ and if your willing to sell for less, your bargaining power is hugely reduced in the future

    Bang on mate & the only way you could make a real comparison, is if West Bromwich come in for Woodrow, as every club value players differently

    One of the most frustrating things about this board. 1.5-2 million and Conway will drive him down himself. We never hold out for anything anywhere near what players are worth in today's market.

    This is only true if the selling party is a competent negotiator. I suspect that we very rarely achieve the maximum that the seller is willing to pay...

    Grant has played in the premier league and did well in his short time there. Woodrow hasn't played top flight football. Grant last season scored 19 goals in his 43 championship games. Woodrow at championship level has gone 14 games without a goal. Grant has just turned 23 so only going to get better. Woodrow is nearly 26 and probably reached his peak.

    Do we have to do this every time a club sells a player?

    I get West Brom have vastly overpaid for a player, but unless they come in for Woodrow, we can't make a comparison.

    Woodrow's not leaving today anyway so it's a non argument.
