Last forty games Andy Carroll has scored ONE goal and that in the FA Cup against Birmingham in January 2019. He fits exactly the spreadsheet profile of a player we would never sign. Expensive; injury prone; past thirty years old.
20k a week apparently, with an extra 75k per play and 35k to come off bench. Hands in pocket time Conway!
Wouldn't mind having an experienced professional like him at the club, but not on terms like those. I'd take him on a low wage deal with a huge incentive if he met certain milestones AND we stayed up. I.e. 5k p/w wage, 5k per appearance, 10k per goal. 500k bonus if he scores at least 15 goals and we stay up etc. Would also want a break clause in our favour in January. Of course, chances are minimal a player like him would agree to terms like that, but I suppose any job is better than sitting at home with zero (or greatly reduced) income.
Was a Barnsley fan mate. But he had a good chuckle at the end of the interview. Saying it was nailed on. Think he was taking the Mick out of rumourmongers.
