Shame that clubs like Accrington and Darwen didn't strangle johnny-come-lately upstart clubs like Newton Heath at birth and create a 'closed shop' of their own right at the outset.

it’s a power grab. A bigger share of the cash for the top 6 and less competition. The pay off to the EFL is just that, Here’s some cash keep quiet. Makes any team getting promoted even harder to compete, they are proposing shelving parachute payments, it won’t be long after they propose shelving relegation.

If you truly care about getting to the Premier league as a smaller club this Is very bad. I’m of a mind to tell them just to f*** off.

Be hard to tell them to f off though, with the current shortage of funds due to covid a high percentage of clubs will just accept the "bribe ".

One other point, it looks like parachute payments will be abolished in the new proposals. So less money for Championship clubs. Conversely, will this mean a more level playing field for clubs like us - assuming we can stay in the Championship

£250 million up front payment should read £250 million bribe. If this gets through then it's just a matter of time before further changes follow to benefit the big 6.

Probably be a PL franchise in a few years like the MLS, with no relegation or promotion, the 250 million could soften the blow ( they think )

Depends on how the 25% is split

Certainly what the ‘gift’ to the FA smacks of.

on first glance of course no parachute money seems fair. How long until no relegation because of it however.

Of the 25% bung the championship will hoover up the vast majority of that I would assume effectively making the EFL even more unfair.

I bet the smaller clubs can’t wait for someone to chuck them a bone

Thing is, I'm not sure I do care about that anymore. Achieving sustainable, competitive Championship status seems about as close as the moon at the moment. By comparison, getting to the Prem is akin to developing a warp drive.

The club's in the EFL should tell Rick Parry his services are no longer required because it's obvious he's not got the interests of the EFL clubs at heart. The American owners of Liverpool and Man Utd are engaged in a massive power grab with the ultimate aim of recreating the NFL model over here in other words a closed shop with no promotion and relegation between the PL and EFL the big 6 to 9 teams will then drop the other PL teams to join a European super league taking the majority of the TV money with them and leaving the rump of the premier League and EFL teams to fend for themselves. This idea isn't the owners of the big clubs being altruistic it's them seeking to take advantage of a terrible situation to further their agenda and the other clubs should tell them to piss off

I really couldn't care less whether it's a PL of 20 or 10, we'll never be anywhere near either so they can do what they like. No interest.

These ideas were first mooted by Scudamore when he was 'top dog' at the Prem about 8 or 9 years ago. He also thought it would be good idea to screen every game as pay per view ( bit like what the EFL is doing with I Follow). At the same time Jez Moxey (former CEO at Wolves and Stoke) was trying to drum up support for Premier League 2. This was to be for the 'so called Big Clubs' who had fallen from the top flight and were struggling to make it back. Clubs like Wolves (at the time), Leeds (at the time), Wednesday, Derby, Sunderland et al. Glad to say they failed, like I hope this latest nonsense will.

I've got an idea. Why don't we have an English football league with four divisions? Divisions 1 to 4. All clubs have equal status with no special clubs. Revenues are distributed fairly, based on division but not excessively skewed. Promotions and relegations are based on merit. Traditions like the Charity Shield and the FA Cup are cherished. The overreaching ambitions of lower division clubs are kept in check by tighter and enforced Financial Fair Play regulations instead of the removal of the promotion carrot. Parachute payments are replaced by sensible player contracts with relegation clauses.

Noticed the time. Put your device down you’re dreaming. :)
On a serious note I have never felt more stronger than now, that the top clubs . Should politely go away and create their own European super league. I genuinely think that he fans don’t want it. Preferring the competition within the country with its atmosphere etc. Won’t be many fans travelling abroad every other week unless they’re minted. Soon get bored.

I'm sure I've read that the majority of EFL clubs are in favour of this proposal. The only clubs that aren't are the Premier League clubs outside of the 'special 9'.

Is that in favour or stating What he sees as what is happening (warning) genuine question or have I read it wrongly 3 times I may add. .. ? the way they’re looking at a third European competition. ( first I’ve heard)

The big boys are going to screw the rest over. The pot offered to the EFL clubs a catalyst for getting what they’ve always wanted . Good riddance to em.

Ps the tweets are blank so may make it clearer.
I’d rather watch Barnsley play Sheffield Wednesday than Barnsley v Real Madrid.
Who can we gloat to, when we win. And tell to take a running jump, when we lose .
Cleaned that up a bit. :)
