If as it appears, Struber is leaving. Will the rest of the coaching staff be doing likewise in the near future?
We really need to stop the character assignation of Murray. Unless you are part of the club daily, know him personally or know a few people who work with him closely then I don't think anyone has the right to call him a snake etc etc etc. When he took charge after Stendel things definitely improved and as such added to us staying up. If I remember he played a system to suit the players we had, not playing players to suit a system as Stendel and Struber have. If Murray gets the caretaker job again it's down to knowledge loyalty and effort while working for Barnsley. He may be a cheaper option but in current climate that's not a bad thing. This season until the crowds are back and more money generated then we have to scrap to stay up again not moan about signing players we can't afford or manager / players who want to move for to earn more money than they deserve.
Agree about Murray. But it’s as frustrating as hell to see this attitude of many Barnsley of ......... ‘cheaper option’ !!! Why do some fans continue to believe we should ‘make do and mend’? Make do and mend eventually leads to one thing only - RELEGATION. This mindset needs to change.
I do agree going forward but for me due to the current situation regarding the financial stability of the majority of clubs in the British leagues I'm content to watch Barnsley grow slowly minimising the commercial risk, we can see this season out and stay in the league reasonably comfortably as I think there a few teams that will struggle more this year than us and we do have some decent players if we find the right way of playing to suit the current crop. If we do that we will be in a far stronger position than a lot of other teams. .
Silly question nudge but how does someone wanting us to target and sign a manager instead of appointing a member of our backroom staff equate to them wanting us to make do and mend? Isn't that the opposite?
He probably was but he started by saying he agrees about Murray how well he did etc so I was a little confused
Why would we go for a cheaper option we seem to view managers in the same way as players an asset who can be sold on for a fee- we did it with Johnson Hecky and as now looks likely Struber, I think we would go for an up and coming manager who would see it as a chance to get noticed and use it as a stepping stone and we would see it as someone if successful we can sell on to a bigger club. Cant see Murray being a long term solution for the club though could well be caretaker again. As for coaching staff most of Stubers stayed back in Europe didnt they - I think we wouldnt see wholesale changes
Top couple of posts from Duntpasstome. I've been guilty of such character assassination in the past without vindication. Nobody sends their team out to lose. If he gets the gig I'll back him until my fickle nature takes hold n' he starts making a hash of it like previous incumbents. The result is key for me. More so now I can't be there in person.
