We own our players. They arnt on tic - never never - hire purchase or credit like the players at Coventry. Other than Ludewig our players are our players. Significant? Very. We are building a team - brick by brick - Coventry on the other hand are using a plaster for a broken arm. We went through years like that with Patrick - knowing that every success would be followed by a fall.
But the risk is two sided to owning players. A massive positive when players develop and become saleable which means more money to build the playing staff. The current economic situation means that long contracts could mean lots of risk. Suppose clubs really struggle financially, as many currently are. The ability to make money from transfers dwindles and BFC are left with players on long contracts that don’t reflect the change in economics. Hopefully the owners can tough it out with their significant wealth.
It means nothing tho if it results in a relegation or if the players can't compete in this league. Our philosophy would be great if it was mixed with the loan system. Why are we 5 games into the season without a striker coming in?? I'd take a few plasters right now!
Our players are still on loan because we all know first sign of cash and off they go and as for building a team the wall won't get very high when the board keep selling the foundation stones
I'd have patrick back tomorrow. Never went missing when the football was bad always open with fans, put his own money in, these have just built on his idea of buying young players bit with a more foreign approach where alot of signings arent coming off.
