Incredibly sad, awful news. Condolences to the poor victim's family at this dark, terrible time.

I have belief in the goodness & kindness of people who are close family & friends. There is no ignorance, intolerance & bigotry amongst them. I'm probably extremely lucky.

No one should go to work and not come back home.
    RIP to that officer.

    R.I.P. fella.

If the guy pulled out the weapon at the custody suite, why wasn`t he searched on arrest or if searched how was it missed?

The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of murdering the officer, who is believed to have been a few weeks away from retirement.

Somehow that almost makes it seem even worse. No doubt there will be an enquiry as to how this can happen but its terrible for his friends and family

Awful news to read. His family must be distraught. I think the suspect shot himself as I understand it, so presumably there was no indication that he was a threat in that way.

Torture him. Break every bone in his body while he's in hospital.pluck out his fingernails and make his life a living hell

At the risk of hijacking a tragic thread which I dont really want to do but it is something you are already doing no it doesn't

Murder of an emergency worker already has a sentence of life without any possibility of parole
Note that Manslaughter can already also give that sentence - or it can give a lesser sentence depending on the circumstances. Which seems to me to be the right approach

Harpers Law seeks to also give life without Parole for Manslaughter- effectively making Manslaughter not applicable to a death of an emergency worker. All deaths will be effectively treated as a Murder no matter what the circumstances.

Hard to see in this case if the killer survives him being acquitted of murder though so your point here is irrelevant

Thankfully there are more good than bad people in the world. It’s just unfortunately Society likes to talk about the negatives instead of positives of life.

Your right of course there are more good people than bad but I wouldn’t say society likes to talk about the negatives imo .
I’d say it’s because the negatives have a massive impact on our consciences and very often devastating consequences .

I always thought that anyone apprehended and put in a police vehicle were routinely cuffed.
Looks like a terrible misjudgment has been made by the arresting officers.
I’m sure an enquiry will pour more light on what happened but unfortunately too late for the murdered officer.

Just struck me as strange that he had a weapon in the custody suite.
