So he must still be in the first team picture then even with Watkins being there.

He did. I had thought of him, but no chance of a permanent, as his Premiership wages would be way beyond our financial capability (keep it quiet from Gerhardt though). A loan deal would be the best we could hope for. At this stage, I just hope that we hang on to Cauley for this season and that he comes back in like a fresh signing.

Suppose, as long as he and Villa are happy with his contribution of 20 odd minutes a week of football.

Alternatively, they could pay all his wages and loan him to us for the season. He'd get more game time and experience It's a win-win-win situation for everyone:)

I"m not being funny but why would they want loan out a player who is currently in their squad & being used in the premier league ? If he wasn"t getting any where near their 1st eleven I could understand it, but Villa are using him , it would make no sense at all for them to loan him out as he is obviously in their plans .

He has and has been rewarded with an extension to his contract which tells us he's going to be involved
at Villa. Doubtful they will let him out because as he showed at Oakwell, he's more than capable of
    grabbing a goal.
