In my opinion neither sending offs were justified. But terrible defending from us contributed to the defeat. Going to have to be more professional in our approach to games if we want to avoid scrapping at the wrong end of the league.
The first red card was very harsh imo. Joao was never reaching that through ball before Walton. Helik did foul him though, so gave the ref a decision to make. The first goal is very scrappy and the bounce favoured Reading. Andersen is very unlucky if the hand ball was accidental. The second goal is a quality strike, he's swung a boot at it and it's flown in the bottom corner. Overall nothing went for us but 11 vs 11 we are dominating the game so lots of positives.
The ref made the first penalty call from 20 yds behind play and indicated there was an elbow used. Really??
No doubt about the quality of the strike, but Walton was late diving. I would suggest that his view was blocked by a Reading player that was offside, however no flag from the linesman, surprise surprise
The defending for both goals was questionable, however had we had all eleven players on the pitch it might have been better.
Don’t think either were reds but I can understand why the ref gave the first one with only one view at it. The second is just ridiculous, there’s nowt he can do about that.
We looked comfortable until the sending offs. Referee was 35 +yards away at the opposite end of the pitch yet sent Helik off for a yellow card offence as the Reading player couldn't fall down fast enough as some of his teammates had already been doing. We were unlucky at Reading and had been the better side until the referee spoiled the match . He sent off Anderson for a handball that was much less obvious than the one Pinnock got away with at Brentford on last seasons final game....
